DRC is one of the largest educational assessment and curriculum/instruction companies in the industry. This position will report directly to the Director of Media and Composition and is part of the Media Composition group. A Layout Specialist is responsible for building and formatting text for the Test Development teams using existing templates and web components. You will also perform web edits and layout changes utilizing XML and CSS. You'll work with a team of designers and collaborate with various educational teams to take business requirements and build efficient test materials.

   

Position Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain text and graphics with web edits and print layout changes
  • Understand and utilize XML in the developing of print layouts
  • Perform CSS instructions for enhancements and modifications to web templates
  • Create tech enhanced items test questions (i.e. bubble input, drag and drop, hotspot, click to respond, layered input, etc.) for on-line testing presentation
  • Collaborate with internal team designers and development staff
  • Follow and support adopted software development methodologies
  • Identify formatting issues within IDEAS (DRC’s proprietary test question authoring and design system)
  • Qualifications:

    ·       Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in publishing technology; related field or relevant professional experience

    ·       Advanced computer skills including programming, database development, electronic publishing

    ·       Working knowledge of HTML, XML, and CSS

    ·       Advance layout skills utilizing formatting software, understanding typography, and overall or publication style

    ·       Willingness to perform routine tasks

    ·       Ability to adjust to changing circumstances and direction required

    ·       Well-developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly to diverse groups of people

    ·       Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hour periods of time
  • Ability to look at a computer monitor, utilize a keyboard and/or mouse for up to 8 hours per day
