Within Merchandising is Owned Brand Sourcing & Development (OBS&D) and Owned Brand Product Design + Packaging, a multi-national team responsible for the global design and sourcing of Target's Owned Brands including Apparel, Accessories, Footwear, Home, Hardlines and Essentials/Beauty. In addition to Sourcing and Product Development, Owned Brands includes Brand Management, Packaging, Quality, Supply Planning, Responsible Sourcing, Operations and Sustainability teams. The Owned Brand Strategy & Operations team within OBS&D is comprised of portfolio managers, project managers, operations managers, and technology & data teams. A role within Strategy & Operations means working with courageous business leaders to forward their success by solving Target's most meaningful enterprise challenges for sustained growth.

About the Job:

A Lead Product Owner - Owned Brands Reporting & Insights is accountable for the visualization of data in service of the Owned Brands Operating Model and Product Creation Engine. You set the data and analytics visualization strategy, while relying on internal data engineers, data analysts, and external technology providers to execute your vision. You will turn data into dashboards with actionable insights & outcomes for the business, enabling business leaders to make decisions more effectively.

Product Teams at Target are accountable for the delivery of business outcomes enabled through technology and analytic products that are easy to use, easily maintained and highly reliable. Product teams have one shared backlog that is inclusive of all product, technology, discovery and design work.

As a Lead Product Owner, you will work in the product model and will partner to develop a comprehensive product strategy, related roadmap, and set key business objectives (OKRs) for your respective product. You will need to leverage the knowledge of your product, as well as, customer feedback and establish other relevant data points to assess value, develop business cases, and prioritize the direction and desired outcomes for your product. You will lead a product and work in unison with engineers, UX designers, data scientists and business partners to deliver a product.

You will be the "voice of the product" to key stakeholders to ensure that their needs are met and that the product team is getting the direction and support that it needs to be successful. You will develop and actively understand the market, maintain a product roadmap and backlog outlining the customer themes, epics, and stories while prioritizing the backlog to focus on the highest impact work for your team and stakeholders.

You will encourage the open exchange of information and viewpoints, as well as, inspire others to achieve challenging goals and high standards of performance while committing to the organization's direction. You will foster sense of urgency to achieve goals and leverage resources to overcome unexpected obstacles, and partner with product teams across the organization to help them achieve their goals while pursuing and completing yours. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.

About you:

  • 4-year college degree (or equivalent experience)
  • 6+ years of analytics/reporting product experience or equivalent domain experience
  • Consumer product creation or retail knowledge preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with technology and ability to facilitate communication between business and technology teams
  • Experience working in an agile environment (e.g. user stories, iterative development, scrum teams, sprints, personas)
  • Proven ability to lead a body of work with cross functional partners
  • Experience with dashboard creation, data visualization and storytelling
  • Familiarity with core database structures
  • Ability to execute simple query logic preferred
  • Strong adaptability & resiliency skills
  • Ability to foster diversity, equity and inclusion


This position may be eligible to be virtual based (also known as full-time remote) or could be 'Flex for your Day', a hybrid model where the team member has some flexibility to choose how and where they work to maximize their productivity and well-being, based on Target's needs. Most of Target's HQ team members work 'Flex for Your Day' with a blend of virtual work and onsite at a Target HQ location. Team members work with their leader to determine how the role, team, partners and business determines the flexibility. For team members who work virtual based, they enter into a work arrangement that means the team member works full-time from home or a non-Target location, and do not have a workstation at their assigned HQ location, but may travel to a HQ site up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $105,800 to $190,400.
