About the Job:

The Assortment Planning team is focused on creating a competitive advantage for Target by making it easier to create assortments that are the most relevant to our Guests and deliver our financial and operational goals. The Merchandise Operations team is standing up a new team to enable the continuous improvement of the assortment planning capability. This team will focus on creating and maintaining consistent processes and roles related to assortment change moments.

As a Senior Manager of Merchandise Operations, you will be responsible for hiring and developing a team who will own the creation and ongoing updating of timing and actions. These timing & actions will provide direction to all functions on what they need to do and when in service of the planning, creation & execution of assortments. You will establish relationships with key stakeholders, to quickly and effectively establish this new function within Merchandise Capabilities. Finally, you will establish new routines and key performance indicators to increase return on investment and drive the continuous improvement of this new function. Some of your key roles and responsibilities include:
  • Lead the development and ongoing assessment of calendar management best methods ensuring your team can quickly and efficiently incorporate changes to the assortment planning process and/or partner teams
  • Develop, coach, and lead a diverse, engaged, and high performing team of Senior Business Partners
  • Work with the operations teams supporting the key functions including S&P, Stores, Owned Brand Sourcing & Design, Fixturing, and Signing to create and maintain consistent processes and roles across the divisions and pyramids your team cover
  • Work closely with Owned Brand Project Management Center of Excellence team to address and maintain clear roles and responsibilities between Business Partners and Owned Brand Project Managers
  • Support the development of new technology in support of the calendar management function and measurement of the assortment planning capability
  • Ensure knowledge management materials are developed, and maintained so that new and existing users can leverage them on an ongoing basis
  • Work across the Assortment Planning team, sharing feedback on new enhancements and identifying ways to improve change management activities.

About You:
  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of Retail preferably in Merchandising, Product Development, and/or Operations
  • Strong team leadership and ability to engage and inspire others. Prior supervisory experience preferred, with a demonstrated commitment to Diversity & Inclusion
  • Ability to develop and operationalize complex strategies across key stakeholder groups
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and strategic thinking skills
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and decision making skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of settings
  • Ability to collaborate and influence cross functional partners
  • Flexibility, resiliency & nimbleness; comfort working in "grey areas" that are constantly changing
