We are a Property Management company with a long history in the Twin Cities. Although we are a relatively small company, our accounting can be complex.
We have a perfect opening for a candidate who has had a full accounting career and now desires fewer hours and greater flexibility. This position will require 16-20 hours per week. One day per week must be in our New Brighton office but the other hours may be worked remotely if desired.
The new hire will work independently and report directly to the President. Must be a self-starter and able to make suggestions and improvements in all areas of accounting and tax. We need someone who is smart, easy to work with, and flexible. Most importantly, the new hire must be very knowledgeable in accounting and have excellent Excel skills.
Duties
- Monitor, manage and reconcile several cash & credit card accounts
- Process accounts payable from receiving invoice to printing checks
- Maintain electronic record keeping system for all company invoices and other documents
- Maintain fixed asset schedule and calculate depreciation
- Monitor and manage mortgage debt
- Create month-end journal entries in Quickbooks
- Prepare monthly and YTD financial statements and other supporting schedules
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and other analysis as requested by owners
- Manage all aspects of HR and payroll for 4 employees
- Work with insurance agent to supply information for annual insurance renewal
- Assemble documentation for company and owner tax returns and review draft returns
- Act as intermediary with CPAs for company and owner income tax prep
- Full charge of all payroll and HR functions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or another related field
- At least 8 years of experience in all areas of accounting (preferably in a supervisory or management capacity)
- Must have a deep understanding of accounting concepts and GAAP
- Must have advanced Excel skills and experience
- Some general knowledge of income tax issues is highly preferred
