About the role:

• Design and implement audiovisual solutions for digital signage or digital communication in Store or Distribution Center environments
• Build a system to integrate large format video and audio systems with a video distribution system and media player (compute) infrastructure for device management
• Experience managing large fleet of Windows-based media players (Windows patching, configuration management, networking, etc.)
• Hands on experience with testing & qualifying audiovisual products in a variety of environments - large format monitors, amplification systems, sound quality testing, etc.
• Collaborate with multiple business users, infrastructure partners and cross-functional teams on requirements/design/implementation
• Collaborate with audiovisual technology suppliers on A/V solutions such as Video Distribution or Video Amplification
• Solid understanding of audio/video distribution, protocols and data formats (HDMI, HDBaseT, EDID, RS232), including how Windows OS handles video (e.g. collage mode)
• Basic understanding of computing, storage, data networking, databases
• Develop automation, scripts, and monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve infrastructure issues before user impact
• Rapidly resolve hardware, operational, infrastructure and application incidents using strong problem solving and debugging skills; participate in on-call engineer rotation
• Aggregate data from multiple sources to centrally analyze device performance issues, trends and/or bottlenecks in order to recommend permanent hardware or software fixes; preferably experience with creating REST APIs

About you:

• College degree equivalent experience
• 5+ years of Audio-Visual Design Engineer or equivalent experience
• Has in-depth knowledge of standard engineering technical approaches in design, build, testing, debugging issues as required
• Demonstrates a solid understanding of the impact of own work on the team and/or guests
• Maintains technical knowledge within areas of expertise
• Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education
• Excellent critical thinking and communication skills

You can distill an abstract architecture into concrete design and influence the implementation. You show expertise in applying the appropriate software engineering patterns to build robust and scalable systems. You are an expert in programming and apply your skills in developing the product. You have the skills to design and implement the architecture on your own, but choose to influence your fellow engineers by proposing software designs, providing feedback on software designs and/or implementation. Use your technology acumen to apply and maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies within specialized area(s) of the technology domain. Evaluate new technologies and participate in decision-making, accounting for several factors such as viability within Target's technical environment, maintainability, and cost of ownership. Initiate and execute research and proof-of-concept activities for new technologies. Manage total product, financials and forecasting. Lead the design, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership of services. Lead and conduct code review, design review, testing, and debugging activities at the application level. Lead functional design and architecture discussions with understanding of process flows and system diagrams to enable design decisions.
