Comprised of Public Relations, Public Affairs, Crisis Management and Internal Enterprise Communications, this team strengthens and protects Target's reputation and helps drive traffic, sales and guest loyalty. You will develop deep relationships with business partners to ensure critical information flows through multiple channels, building confidence with team members and external stakeholders and strengthening Target's position within the competitive retail marketplace.

As a Communications Senior Business Partner for Finance and Legal Affairs at Target, you will have the opportunity to bring to life the story of our progress against our strategy and leadership in the retail industry through media relations and a variety of internal and external communication channels. You will play an important role in developing financial communications around Target's earnings reports, and work with the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Legal and Risk Officer on internal and external communications.
  • This role is responsible for supporting internal and external engagement and communications for Target's CFO as well as internal and external communications for business areas within Finance, including quarterly earnings.
  • Support an integrated communications model, providing internal and external communications planning and strategic execution for Finance and Legal Affairs related business areas and initiatives. Includes financial reporting, REDcard, CFO and CLRO media interviews and speaking engagements.
  • Manage internal and external communications, including media relations, to support quarterly earnings reporting, in partnership with Investor Relations.
  • Lead the development of media and team communication materials for quarterly earnings, including leader remarks and speaking points, messaging, visuals and social media content.
  • Keep a strong pulse on industry financial news, sharing timely updates with business partners and colleagues and preparing media coverage summaries for leadership.
  • Handle proactive and reactive media relations for corporate and financial topics.
  • Research and evaluate leadership speaking engagement invitations from external organizations and publications and manage logistics and media relations for select events.
  • Work with internal colleagues to develop content for multiple Target communication channels, including internal publications and A Bullseye View.
  • Measure and evaluate effectiveness of communication strategies.
  • Manage external PR agencies, including budget management.
  • Handle highly sensitive business information with the utmost confidentiality.

About You:
  • More than 8 years of related internal and external communications experience working in a corporate communications or agency setting.
  • Experience working with finance, investor relations, legal affairs business areas within a retailer or large organization.
  • Strategic communications planning experience.
  • Strong business acumen and knowledge of the retail environment, capital markets landscape and an ability to distill complex information into clear and compelling communications.
  • Strong executive presence and the ability to coach and counsel senior leaders.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple peers and stakeholders, influencing without authority, developing strong working relationships.
  • Passion for corporate & financial communications, investor relations initiatives.
  • Organized and able to balance multiple competing priorities on a daily basis.
  • Ability to develop compelling communication strategies with clear and measurable goals.
  • Ability to project manage while balancing multiple competing priorities on a daily basis.
  • Strong writing for various forms (i.e., email, speeches, media talking points) with expertise in AP Style.
  • Strong media relations skills.


Skills preferred:
  • Experience with financial communications for a public company
  • Corporate or communications agency experience


This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $85,400 to $153,700. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Target cares about and invests in you as a team member, so that you can take care of yourself and your family.
