Working within Merchandising Capabilities, your mission will be to help build and sustain an industry-leading portfolio of global capabilities that drive financial growth, enable efficiency, and unlock joy for each Guest. Our teams and products are aligned to key enterprise functions to accelerate and support Target's strategy through connected processes, innovative technology, and a best-in-class team.

The Merchandising Capabilities Strategy & Operations team is responsible for building and activating a holistic strategy and operational excellence across our total portfolio in service of vision, strategic priorities, and team culture. As a member of this team, you will serve as a critical thought partner for the Merchandising Capabilities leadership team, working directly with senior leaders to enable and drive critical business operations, while continually advancing capabilities for the future.

As a Lead Consultant, Strategy & Operations, you will play a critical role in helping the Merchandising Capabilities team achieve our enterprise goals. You will identify connected strategic opportunities across our total portfolio of capabilities and lead cross-functional teams to develop actionable solutions that drive guest preference, financial performance, and operational excellence. While your projects will evolve based on the needs of the business, the work will be high scope and impact multiple teams across the enterprise. Key goals will include:
  • Scope and define approach to change management across Merch Capabilities and roundtable partners
  • Build, own, and coordinate centralized change management tools, routines, and communications
  • Develop, maintain, and coordinate total communications strategy for Merch Capabilities
  • Lead and develop content for Merch Capabilities team and business routines
  • Refine and establish new routines for Merch Capabilities' global team as needed


About you:
  • 4-year college degree
  • High level of resiliency, collaboration and comfort with ambiguity
  • Demonstrated success leading and connecting cross-functional teams and leaders across a variety of project types
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to drive clarity via storytelling
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and translate strategy to action
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence high scope, complex cross-functional initiatives
  • Ability to stay objective in the face of complexity and lead with an enterprise-first mindset
  • Familiarity with retail industry (Merchandising, strategy, supply chain, operations, etc.)


This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $85,400 - $153,700. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Target cares about and invests in you as a team member, so that you can take care of yourself and your family.
