You will lead, participate, and represent DEI in special projects ignited throughout the enterprise designed to close equity gaps for team members and guests. You will work across a broad network of internal and external partnerships to drive progress on Target's commitments to DEI, from the enterprise level down to individual teams and the impact of everyday experiences. Your work will make a positive impact on building a safe and inclusive work environment where all dimensions of difference are valued and represented, while all team members feel welcome and able to bring their authenticity to deliver results.

As Lead Equity Projects Manager DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) you will, representing Team Member interests, work both on solo projects and in Cross Functional Teams across the enterprise on projects that create more equitable and inclusive experiences for all. In this work, you will work with the Director -Segment & Equity Strategy to identify equity gaps, and opportunities for DEI to engage in new, or in-flight, projects that include, or should include, a strong DEI perspective. You will also build and foster external relationships that co-drive multi-segment activities, activations, and partnerships. You will work largely autonomously, with guidance and guardrails provided by Director - Segment & Equity Strategy, to build a comprehensive strategy that delivers on our purpose and brings equity, a sense of belonging, and joy to all Team Members, at Target and in the broader community.

Job Responsibilities & Qualifications:

Equity Special Projects
  • Connects the dots between teams and projects across the enterprise, finding ways to elevate projects by inserting - and advancing - our relevant initiatives in the conversation, and leading high-level projects when doing so progresses our DEI priorities and goals.
  • Identifies and ignites high-level, cross enterprise projects that address, and work to close, equity gaps.
  • Works with Director - Segment & Equity Strategy to provide regular updates to senior leadership, including REACH committee, HRLT and LT.

Multi-Segment External Partnerships
  • Builds and fosters external partner relationships supporting multi and cross-segment populations that will expand Target's ability to create equitable experiences.
  • Continuously identifies and evaluates value of external partnerships, where there are engagement overlaps, and provides recommendations on continuation of partnership.

Internal Partnerships
  • Identifies, builds, and fosters internal partner relationships across enterprise that will expand viability of holistic DEI strategy and support run-state of strategy implementation.
  • Leads cross-enterprise CFTs where necessary to align relevant teams and drive progress forward.


As a Team Member within the DEI space you will contribute to an environment of continuous listening, learning, innovating, and moving the DEI needle for the enterprise through:
  • Maintaining Target's leading position in DEI through extensive external benchmarking, innovation, and understanding of the evolving external landscape.
  • Elevating and translating ideas and inspirations into practical application at Target.
  • Measuring the impact of our work through qualitative and quantitative insights
  • Championing our efforts to build and sustain a diverse workforce and equitable, inclusive experiences for all.


About you:
  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years transferrable experience in strategy, project management, strategic partnerships, and/or multicultural marketing
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Target and/or beyond in the external landscape
  • Strong understanding of, and empathy for, current Team Member experience
  • Proven experience developing complex strategies and uniting others towards common goals
  • Ability to flex from Strategy/Vision into tactical execution and to help others do the same
  • Experience in building and managing cross-functional partnerships and projects with enterprise scope
  • Expertise in change management, assessing stakeholders, and building and managing engagement plans
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship management skills
  • Ability to influence a broad and wide group of stakeholders, partners, and senior leaders, within Target and/or externally
  • Strong project management skills and innovation acumen; can design, develop and deliver innovative solutions at scale for the enterprise
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving; strategic thinker who can turn insights and analytics into strategies and tactics that drive change
  • Strong collaboration skills to partner with broad cross-functional teams; proven ability to execute multiple tasks simultaneously with quality results
  • Flexibility, resiliency and agility; comfortable working in a high degree of ambiguity and driving progress over perfection
  • Connects and integrates strategies across multiple spaces easily
  • High levels of initiative, self-motivation, and drive


This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $85,400k to $153,700k.
