As Sr. Segment Strategy Manager DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) you will scope, develop, deliver, and align the enterprise against segmentation strategies that address gaps and ensure positioning of equitable and inclusive experiences for all. In this work, you will build and manage internal and external partnerships, relevant to the segments you support, that create and build a sense of belonging for all Team Members. You will work largely autonomously, with guidance and guardrails provided by Director - Segment & Equity Strategy, to build a comprehensive strategy that delivers on our purpose and brings equity, a sense of belonging, and joy to your owned segments at Target and in the broader community.

Job Responsibilities & Qualifications:

Strategy Creation
  • Works with DEI Strategy and TMX teams to use internal data and data gathering capabilities to understand where equity gaps exist.
  • Seeks out robust external data to fill in internal data gaps and create holistic view of quantitative data.
  • Works with internal and external partners to gain qualitative insights and pair those with quantitative insights to create holistic view of segment.
  • Creates complete segment strategy for owned segments, working with an extensive network of partners to research, study and listen to the communities of focus.
  • Will work with Director - Segment & Equity Strategy to develop strategies and plans, establish goals, KPIs, accountabilities, and routines to guide the work forward.

Internal Partnerships
  • Owns and drives internal DEI relationship with relevant ERGs relative to owned segments ensuring ERG goals align with enterprise DEI goals.
  • Builds and fosters internal partner relationships relevant to owned segments that will expand viability of strategy and support run-state of strategy implementation.

External Partnerships
  • Builds and fosters external partner relationships relevant to owned segments that will expand Target's ability to create equitable experiences and drive a stronger sense of belonging for segment in total community.

Strategy Implementation/Run State
  • Builds and leads a Cross Functional Team of cross-enterprise leaders dedicated to closing equity gaps in owned segments.
  • Identifies and implements continuous opportunities for evolution of strategy.
  • Works with Director - Segment & Equity Strategy to provide regular updates to senior leadership, including REACH committee, HRLT and LT.


As a Team Member within the DEI space you will contribute to an environment of continuous listening, learning, innovating, and moving the DEI needle for the enterprise through:
  • Maintaining Target's leading position in DEI through extensive external benchmarking, innovation, and understanding of the evolving external landscape.
  • Elevating and translating ideas and inspirations into practical application at Target.
  • Measuring the impact of our work through qualitative and quantitative insights
  • Championing our efforts to build and sustain a diverse workforce and equitable, inclusive experiences for all.


About you:
  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 7-10 years transferrable experience in strategy scoping, creation, and implementation. As well as project management, strategic partnerships, and/or multicultural marketing
  • Ability to identify data gaps, articulate data needs, synthesize data into actionable strategy, and analyze outcomes of strategy to measure success
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Target and/or beyond in the external landscape
  • Strong understanding of, and empathy for, current Team Member experience
  • Proven experience developing complex strategies and uniting others towards common goals
  • Ability to flex from Strategy/Vision into tactical execution and to help others do the same
  • Experience in building and managing cross-functional partnerships and projects with enterprise scope
  • Expertise in change management, assessing stakeholders, and building and managing engagement plans
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship management skills
  • Ability to influence a broad and wide group of stakeholders, partners, and senior leaders, within Target and/or externally
  • Exceptional project management skills and innovation acumen; can design, develop and deliver innovative solutions at scale for the enterprise
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving; strategic thinker who can turn insights and analytics into strategies and tactics that drive change
  • Exceptional collaboration skills to partner with broad cross-functional teams; proven ability to execute multiple tasks simultaneously with quality results
  • Flexibility, resiliency and agility; comfortable working in a high degree of ambiguity and driving progress over perfection
  • Connects and integrates strategies across multiple spaces easily
  • High levels of initiative, self-motivation, and drive


This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $85,400k to $153,700k.
