Team Overview

The Enterprise Strategic Planning Team drives accountability to Target's long-term strategic and financial aspirations.

This is accomplished by:
  • Pressure-testing Target's strategy with the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Cascading strategic discussion and direction across Business Units.
  • Identifying and governing Enterprise Key Initiatives, which are the most important bodies of work for the enterprise to execute in service of our strategy and financial goals.


Success will be measured by the ability to shepherd Target's strategic direction across the enterprise and align the organization behind a set of near and long-term tactics aligned to our strategy.

Members of the Enterprise Strategic Planning team can expect to grow and develop in three key areas, regardless of function or level:

  • Executive Communication: Achieve greater confidence presenting, driving decisions, and thinking on your feet through leading conversations with senior leaders, including members of Target's Leadership Team.
  • Enterprise Exposure:​ Gain visibility to all critical functions throughout the company, providing a birds-eye view of in-flight work and insight into how decisions are made at Target.​ ​
  • Strategic Thought Leadership:​ Gain comfort influencing senior leaders to set Target's strategic agenda, align on priorities, and drive measurable outcomes.


Position Overview:

A Lead Enterprise Strategic Planner can expect to gain exposure across all levels of Strategic Planning, from pressure-testing the strategy, to cascading the strategy, and aligning Key Initiatives. This role will be primarily focused on Strategic Planning routines that impact Target's Leadership Team and Board of Directors.

Specific deliverables include (but are not limited to):
  • Board of Directors Updates:​ Lead the development of content presented to Target's Board of Directors, in service of building confidence in our strategy and plans to drive growth.
  • Key Initiative Support: Lead the enterprise process for Key Initiatives, which are the most important workstreams to advance strategic and financial aspirations. This includes end-to-end stewardship, from identification, alignment, integration, governance and ongoing integration and connection for all Key Initiatives.
  • Enterprise Communication: Lead and identify opportunities to cascade our enterprise strategy to create clarity and consistency across the organization.


About You:
  • 4-year college degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience driving strategic business decisions.
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual problem-solving skills and ability to synthesize and clearly communicate complex findings to focus on critical issues and actionable opportunities.
  • Ability to work both independently and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Strong attention to detail; comfort creating complex project plans and driving accountability for timing & action.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with a strong ability to tell compelling business and result stories.
  • Demonstrates success establishing credibility and trust with leaders and business partners, including influencing without authority.
  • Innate curiosity and desire to learn with a strong inclination to drive for results.
  • Strategy experience, preferred.


This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location.A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $85,400 to $153,700 Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Target cares about and invests in you as a team member, so that you can take care of yourself and your family.
