Store Operations manages and enhances the informational resources for researching and resolving operational issues, while guiding and communicating with the field team and leaders who use them. The Stores Analytics team rapidly develops and deploys new innovations to improve existing processes and enable new capabilities that drive productivity, create a great guest and team member experience. The Stores Analytics team leverages business experience, thought leadership, and analytical acumen to elevate problem solving for Stores. The Stores Analytics team provides an ideal opportunity to work within a highly collaborative team managing complex solutions. A role on our team means being central to the innovation within Target Stores. The Director of Store Analytics will lead a team of analysts and product owners who work across product, engineering, operations, and strategy teams to deliver insights, analysis and reporting to support the rapidly growing Fulfillment business in Stores and key decisions regarding how to utilize space in Target stores. You'll be working in a dynamic and challenging environment where new technologies are deployed constantly, and processes are evolving quickly as these operations mature.

The Target Data Analytics team creates metrics, models, and data products to sustainably educate and enable our business partners to make data-based decisions. We help develop the technology that personalizes the guest experience, from business operations to relevant guest experience.

As a Director Data & Analytics - Stores you'll take the lead as you...:

  • Work with Stores and Stores Operations partners to define a problem, find the requisite data and propose solutions based on data analysis
  • Lead a team of analysts and product professionals providing strategic guidance on projects which build Target's future leaders. Understand and anticipate problems and move to solve them quickly
  • Create and automate reporting and insights at scale that informs and influences business decisions
  • Democratize data and insights as you strive to deliver self-service tools to your partners and enable them to make better decisions quicker
  • Provide thought leadership in how we measure a business area through the application of insights, analysis and derivation of reporting functionality
  • Incorporate data based approaches to hold products and businesses accountable for results against goals and objectives
  • Effectively communicate and educate business leaders by leveraging data analysis, insights, testing and measurement
  • Influence business leaders, peers and technology partners to mature data foundations, analytics capabilities and mathematical applications that drive the business


About You:
  • Four-year degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or other related quantitative field
  • 7+ years of experience working with BI, Data Science solutions including: analysis, design, testing and report development
  • Understand the Product model and ability to work and lead an Agile team
  • Influential - able to engage and negotiate with business leaders and teams
  • Inquisitive on BI and Big Data technology - current on tools utilized in Data Science and Analytics
  • Good understanding of data structures and the design of algorithms
  • Good understanding of mathematical concepts and ability to grasp complex mathematics

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced Degree in Applied Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Economics or other related quantitative field
  • Experience with data warehousing (relational and non-relation structures) and data visualization tools
  • Experience leading projects involving complex analytics requirements, a variety of business stakeholders, and a team of analytics and product professionals with a variety of skills
  • Strong analytical skills including model development, hypothesis design and testing, and the ability to teach analytical concepts to others
  • Proven track record of learning new tools and technologies
  • Experience developing future leaders in a data rich environment


This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $ 119,500-$215,100. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Target cares about and invests in you as a team member, so that you can take care of yourself and your family.
