About the Job:

Join us as a Director of Product Management for our Personalization Recommendations Platform. The Personalization team helps guests more easily find inspirational content, items and deals relevant to them. This makes shopping for their everyday items faster while helping them discover new items along the way. In this role, you will coach and lead a team of high performing product managers while collaborating with data scientists, data engineers, and data analysts to build our personalization platform, tooling, algorithms, and APIs delivering Items, Promotions, and Content recommendations directly to guests across all digital surfaces.

In this role you will set the vision and strategy for the evolution of personalization at Target. You will bring a wealth of personalization experience, future-oriented thinking, and a deep understanding of machine learning to create new opportunities for growth from personalization. You will partner cross functionally with data sciences and marketing to drive and influence the enterprise guest data strategy that is the backbone of personalization. You will add scale and capabilities to our suite of recommendations products by connecting our guest, item, promo, and content data to merchandising & marketing strategies. You will understand business needs and evangelize the opportunities your products can drive in service of those business needs. You will work with leaders across the enterprise to develop testing, adoption and rollout plans to fully realize the potential of the capabilities.

Product Teams at Target Corporation are accountable for the delivery of business outcomes enabled through technology and analytic products that are easy to use, easily maintained and highly reliable. Product teams have one shared backlog that is inclusive of all product, technology and design work.

As a Product Director, you will set the overall strategic vision for your product space and product team; are accountable for succeeding against identified business outcomes and metrics; will set and manage the product's budget and financials, set the short- and long-term product goals, and quarterly Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).

You will be accountable for building, coaching, and mentoring a strong team of product owners while also building a strong team culture of progress, transparency, and efficiency across Product teams. You will be responsible to elevate your collective team's performance by providing insightful, motivating, and constructive feedback to all roles on the team while also working with senior leadership and peers across pyramids to negotiate and remove execution related barriers for your teams.

You will drive product discovery with key stakeholders to validate hypotheses and concepts with customers before committing engineering time, as you lead highly complex work across multiple pyramids, with interrelated specialties. You will leverage data and analytics to provide competitive analysis, drive decision making, assess the health and effectiveness of your products and related P&L impacts, and to deliver recommendations to key stakeholders.

It will be critical that you possess an understanding of retail or similar area, relevant technologies and design principles in order to drive innovative and scalable solutions across multiple pyramids within Target. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.

About you:
  • 4-year college degree (or equivalent experience); post graduate experience in machine learning, statistics or econometrics is a plus
  • 10+ years of experience in product management or a combination as engineer or data scientist and product manager
  • 2+ years leading product managers
  • Experience with building algorithmically powered products (e.g. recommendations, search, personalization) including applied machine learning and core data
  • Experience leading and coaching cross-geo or remote product teams with examples of hiring, growing talent, and creating enterprise talent impact
  • Experience with eCommerce, MarTech, or Personalization domains
  • Strong communication skills and proven ability to build strong relationships with all levels across product, technology, and business teams
  • Strategic mindset and bias for action with strong ability for strategic planning, defining OKRs and driving business outcomes
  • Expert at working in the agile environment (e.g. user stories, iterative development, scrum teams, sprints, personas)

This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $137,500 to $247,500.
