Sr. Manager, Strategy - Owned Brand Sourcing & Development

Within Target is the Merchandising Pyramid which is responsible for curating and providing product that meets the Company Purpose. Owned Brand Sourcing & Development (OBS&D), a multi-national team responsible for the global sourcing of Target's Owned Brands including Apparel, Accessories, Footwear, Home, Hardlines and Essentials/Beauty resides within Merchandising. In addition to Sourcing and Product Development, OBS&D includes Quality, Supply Planning, Responsible Sourcing, Operations and Sustainability teams. Target's portfolio of owned brands is a key differentiator, with these brands being one of the things our guests love about the Target experience.

The Strategy & Operations team within OBS&D helps the organization deliver on our brand promise and purpose while ensuring that Owned Brands remains a competitive advantage for Target. The team is responsible for cross-functional support to leaders across product design, product operations, and brand management

As a Sr. Manager, Strategy OBS&D you will play a critical role in helping the Target Owned Brands organization achieve its goals. You will apply your strengths in problem solving, business acumen, and strategy development to shape Owned Brands strategic direction.

This includes:

  • Building critical partnerships across the enterprise to ensure cross functional collaboration, share out & implement strategic direction to support the company purpose


  • Supporting the strategic agenda for Owned Brands inclusive of LRP strategy, annual business plan creation, and quarterly reviews


  • Day to day leadership of strategic workstreams that identify and seek to harness Owned Brands growth opportunities


  • Keeping a pulse on geopolitical trends to give regular cadence of guidance, inclusive of context on how that applies to Target's business and future forward insights/predictions and to identify shifts need in countries of production


  • Monitoring innovation trends in design, manufacturing, supply/value chain broadly across the market to identify new areas where Target should be investing and partnering


  • Supporting close partnership and connection with external research data providers, suppliers, and additional internal/external innovation partners


  • Supporting scenario planning for identifying trends, strategic forecasting and making better choices both short and long term


About you (experience requirements):
  • 4-year or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience required preferably within management consulting firms, corporate strategy group, project management, and business operations
  • Ability to solve complex problems through a systematic approach to structured problem solving
  • Lead with a future forward, strategic, and operational mentality; think tactically with creative problem solving
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with a strong ability to tell compelling business and result stories, including designing and facilitating key enrollment moments with leaders across the enterprise.
  • Ability to influence without authority, and to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Innate curiosity and desire to learn with a strong inclination to drive for results.
  • Willingness to take risks, challenge the status quo, and work under ambiguous circumstances.
  • Respects, appreciates, and values diverse voices and approaches.
