St. Catherine University and our Access and Success team invite applications for a Social Worker position. This is a .75 FTE position for 30 hours weekly.

St Catherine University enrolls 30% first generation students and 29% students that are Pell grant recipients. We are proud to have achieved the status of being a minority serving institution ( MSI ) and we are committed to the success of our students, 20% of whom are parenting. The Access and Success team Social Worker works with individual student parents to provide support, assessment, advocacy, resources, referral to resources, and assists them with problem-solving. Responsibilities include:

• Engage in substantive contact (65%) with the majority of student parents in the College for Women enrollment group to positively impact their persistence and completion.
• Outreach to College for Women student parent population with weekly “Access & Success News” emails during fall and spring semesters.
• Work with students requesting emergency financial assistance to assess their need and engage those students with other campus and community resources.
• Maintain a caseload of four to five Keys to Success parenting students in need of intensive support.
• Assist with weekly student parent support groups.
• Support grant management activities, promote and provide information to donors and other funders.
• Participate in continuing education opportunities that focus on mental health issues, diversity, and strengthening families.
• Serve as an active member of the Access and Success department team and engage with the campus community to promote services.
• Maintain programming, recordkeeping, and data management.
• Keep up to date with community resources for referral and networking.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors in Social Work
• Three years of social work experience including building relationships of trust with clients, assessing their needs and connecting them with resources.
• Experience responding respectfully and effectively to people of all cultures and identities in a manner that affirms the worth and preserves the dignity of individuals, families, and communities.
• Experience coordinating programs, developing and implementing new services, and balancing competing priorities of student intervention and program implementation.
• Experience maintaining appropriate boundaries.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience serving student parents in a higher education setting and assisting people in crisis.
• Experience determining need for emergency financial assistance.
• Experience working in women-centered cultures or organizations.
