A role with Business Partnerships & Negotiations (BP&N) means supporting Merchandising in developing the best possible deals for Target through strategic partnerships and vendor negotiations. Here, you'll work with buyers on contract terms and vendor organizations to set strategies that get the maximum value for Target. Use your analytics expertise and strategic thinking to position Target and its vendors for the most productive and successful partnerships. As a Lead Business Partner BP&N, you will develop negotiation strategies and partnerships which support Target's business initiatives and align with the integrity of the Target brand. As a Lead Business Partner BP&N, you will have operational ownership of the Joint Business Planning capability. You will identify opportunities to drive enhanced negotiations outcomes through process, communication and product improvement. You will lead development of annual Joint Business Planning (JBP) Strategy, Roadmap and Best Practices and build and drive cross functional partnership with strategic stakeholders across Merchandising, Planning, Marketing and Finance in JBP process.

This individual will partner with Product (technology) and Finance on vision and future roadmap for Supplier Business Planning technology and build and execute sequenced communication plan & training of the new JBP technology. You will drive ongoing assessment of JBP negotiation capability health and outcomes across all stakeholders and identify opportunities to enhance and scale negotiation capabilities across divisions; prioritize business opportunities based on financial business case and stakeholder alignment. You will build and facilitate internal and external communication plan and user training experience for process and technology related needs.

About you:
  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of relevant merchandising experience
  • 2+ years of buying or planning experience, ideally with national brand vendor negotiations experience
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with strong analytical, decision-making, project management, planning and organizational skills
  • Strong initiative; proactively identifies issues and solves problems
  • Strong financial background, 2+ years of experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills


This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $85,400 to $153,700 Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Target cares about and invests in you as a team member, so that you can take care of yourself and your family.
