A role in Environmental Compliance and Ethics means working in an area that will support efforts to identify, prioritize, and minimize areas of risk for Target Stores, Supply Chain, and Headquarters facilities.

As a Senior Dangerous Goods Program Owner you will:

Develops and enhances enterprise-wide compliance programs to address shipping, permitting or reporting requirements

Works with business areas to develop and enhance compliance programs to comply with shipping requirements and to monitor program effectiveness

Manage regulatory inspections and routinely interact with government agencies
  • Position serves as a subject matter expert on dangerous goods compliance and reporting
  • Escalates and manages dangerous goods shipping and reporting issues
  • Maintains a deep knowledge of dangerous goods compliance regulations by reviewing regulations, trainings and industry group's connections/awareness.
  • Maintains an understanding of relevant business practices and processes
  • Develops training content to communicate requirements and expectations on key dangerous goods shipping requirements.
  • Supports the prioritization of dangerous goods compliance needs and assists in determining resources
  • Leads or participates in cross functional teams in the development and execution of short and long term dangerous goods compliance solutions
  • Develop reporting tools using data to monitor the various compliance processes.
  • Contributes to the development of sustainable best practices for dangerous goods compliance management
  • May participate in trade associations to understand industry trends and to gather insight on best management practices

About You:
  • BA/BS college degree in environmental sciences, engineering, chemistry, or related field or relevant work experience
  • Minimum 4 years relevant experience in dangerous goods compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to work with ambiguous problem definitions, recognize dependencies and deliver impact solutions through logical problem solving and technical ideations
  • Strong analytical, innovative, and conceptual approach to solving problems
  • Experience with data exploration using Excel or similar tools
  • Able to support conclusions with analytical evidence using descriptive stats, inferential stats, and data visualizations
  • Working knowledge of dangerous goods regulations
  • Strong process management and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, manage conflict and act with urgency.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Some travel required on a project by project basis
  • Preferred certifications: Certified Dangerous Good Professional (CDGP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)

This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $65,600 to $118,100.
