A Merch Buying Director helps create omni-channel growth by planning profitable and locally relevant assortments using your grasp of guest shopping behavior, assortment requirements and competitors. You will influence and negotiate with vendors to achieve results and identify gaps and opportunities. Your flexibility in reacting to business results and your ability to translate financial metrics and data into actionable strategies will be critical. You will lead cross-functional teams to drive category results while managing progress toward sales and margin goals. Your partnerships with growers and/or category mangers and vendors will help guide product development as you source appropriately for Produce and Floral. You will lead Associate Buyers and Senior Merchandise Specialists; and interact with the Pricing and Promotion Center of Excellence, Planning, Site Merchandising, the Item Center of Excellence and many other expert partners in support of your promotional planning work across channels. You will guide our transition and revision process to ensure we work with our cross function partners to make sure we meet our guest's needs. You will need to demonstrate the ability to listen and adapt quickly to new information and perspectives, and seek to unlock the maximum potential in others. You will lead, influence and provide a strategic vision of what is needed from our supply chain and inventory partners to ensure we are meeting and exceeding our guests needs. About you:
  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of Merchandising experience with various product categories
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills to drive growth in a business
  • Strong collaboration skills to partner with a cross-functional team
  • Flexibility, resiliency and nimbleness; comfortable working in "grey areas" that are constantly changing
  • Committed to developing a high-performing team
  • Strong understanding of supply chain end to end
