JOB POSITION: Senior Data Engineer
LOCATION: 1000 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN 55403
DUTIES: Assess employer needs and convert requirements into solutions roadmap relating to issues involving long-term or multiple-work stream efforts using Big Data technologies; participate in software development cycle, drive best practices, and ensure development of high-quality code for common assets and framework components; implement tools and frameworks for automating report generation, identification of data-quality issues, and data governance; write Spark applications using Scala to perform various data cleansing, validation, transformation, and summarization activities according to requirements; build technical solutions using continuous integration / continuous delivery toolchains to collect, manage, and store data from a wide range of commercial sources; actively participate in product release cycle, daily meetings, and design / code review; build data integrations leveraging streaming technologies (Kafka) and other data integration patterns; ensure all code adheres to development and security standards; and communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner to technical and non-technical Target stakeholders Tools/technologies used: Hadoop, Spark, Scala, Kelsa, Spark-SQL, PySpark, DOMO, Oozie, Hive, Python, HDFS, HiveQL, Grafana Dashboard, SQL, Sqoop, MapReduce, Cloudera, Kafka, Java, JUnit, Impala, UDF, Shell, Unix, Maven, Zookeeper, Flume, Oracle, Teradata SQL Server, Web Services, SOAP, RESTful, Splunk, SFTP, MySQL, Oracle HQL, IntelliJ, Eclipse, Hue, H2 DB, JIRA, Jenkins, Git, log4j, Pig, Tableau. REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering and at least three (3) years of experience in big data engineering (any title) with involvement in all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including requirements collection, design, analysis of specifications, and application development; improving performance; building dashboards; designing, implementing, and testing data pipelines; and using Spark, Scala, Hive, Sqoop, Oozie, Hadoop, Python, HDFS, MapReduce, Cloudera, Kafka, Tableau, Zookeeper, Flume, Impala, Splunk, Pig, and MySQL. Position includes a telecommute benefit within commuting distance to Minneapolis-area Target office, as directed.
