As a Senior Logistics Manager - Capacity Management, you are responsible for the Facility Outbound category within the Domestic First Mile (inbound) portion of Target's Transportation network. This category comprises truckload and intermodal volumes originating at 6 ports of entry (import volume) and 5 inland consolidators (domestic volume) and destined for Target's distribution center network (40 locations nationwide).

This individual will lead the development and implementation of innovative capacity and sourcing strategies, negotiation, contract management and relationship management. This individual will ensure that Target's DFM network maintains adequate levels of high-performing capacity, supports Target's broader supply chain and organizational goals and maintains the appropriate balance between cost, capacity and service.

Responsibilities
  • Leverages strong leadership skills for the creation and ongoing iteration of category strategy (capacity and provider strategy) through collaboration with senior leadership, operational partners, and procurement partners
  • Maintains comprehensive understanding of transportation industry trends, carrier base, modes (specifically truckload and intermodal), market conditions, service provider offerings and technology tools. Leverages this information to create innovative and successful capacity solutions.
  • Leads end-to-end sourcing process, leveraging RFIs, complex RFPs, cross-functional collaboration and direct negotiation, to ensure adequate network capacity
  • Delivers the highest quality relative to cost, capacity and service
  • Establishes and maintains effective partnerships with operational partners and owns external carrier partner relationships
  • Presents category strategy and sourcing event results to partners and senior leadership regularly
  • Implements a rigorous ongoing capacity management process that maintains adequate network capacity (98% availability)
  • Monitors and reviews performance of implemented capacity solution with operational teams

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, and 7 years of progressive supply chain, logistics or transportation experience
  • Proven ability to efficiently solve complex problems and create strategy
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skillset
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate through all levels of the organization including senior leadership
  • Clear communication and presentation skills
  • Strong relationship management skills: preferred experience managing vendor/carrier relationships
  • Proven ability to effectively collaborate with multiple business partners (internal and external)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong understanding of transportation industry, specifically truckload and intermodal
  • Experience managing large, complex projects
  • Preferred experience in direct negotiations


This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $85,400 to $153,700.
