The mission of the Global Investigations Team is to protect and support Target Corporation through professional investigations of ethical, criminal, or policy issues, and other corporate risks. The team strives to ethically advance Target by sharing insight and surfacing the truth.

The Lead Global Investigator (LGI), Global Investigations, will be based in the United States, report to the GI Director, and will support the development and execution of the global investigations function across Target's global regions. The LGI will work with a variety of United States HQ and global teams to conduct and coordinate investigations, while also advising corporate leaders to drive ethical behavior, assess enterprise risks, evaluate controls, and advance Target's reputation.

Investigations of Target Team Members and Third Parties
  • Execute investigative tactics regarding allegations of misconduct brought against Target team members, leaders, vendors, factories and other third parties, which may include:
    • Review and assess initial allegations and complaints to determine if sufficient predication exists to initiate an investigation
    • Determine appropriate investigative scope and objectives, and formulate a comprehensive and efficient investigation plan
    • Execute various data and information gathering techniques, including query and analysis of company records, Target's systems, and internal company communications
    • Conduct in-person and virtual interviews of reporting parties, victims, witnesses, and subjects, including field interviews (factories and vendors)
    • Analyze investigative evidence and findings to determine if an allegation has been substantiated
  • Hold highly sensitive information in confidence

  • Obtain evidence (information, statements, and records) in various locations including domestic and international offices, factories, and other third-party facilities 

  • Capture critical moments, evidence and forensic reviews within a comprehensive report that is actionable and conveys the full investigative contribution
  • Communicate investigative results and risk mitigation effectively to enable business partners to make informed and responsible decisions for Target and its guests
  • Educate business units on risks that impact or have the potential to impact their organization, requires frequent and scheduled engagement with business partners and leaders throughout the region
  • Reinforce integrity requirements with Target team members / business partners

  • Develop and sustain a strong Global Investigations brand throughout Target


About You:
  • 4-year University degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience conducting investigations in the private and/or public sector
  • Proven ability to conduct successful investigative interviews, while maintaining an atmosphere of respect, empathy, objectivity, and trust
  • Ability to query and analyze data to identify potential fraud and misconduct
  • Experience in one or more of the following: audit, compliance, risk assessment, forensic accounting
  • Proficient in computer forensic tactics including computer / mobile device imaging and processing
  • Fluent communication (verbal and written) and interviewing skills in English and Spanish
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute ideas and experience as well as constantly learning from others
  • Ability to speak and present clearly in both formal and informal settings to an audience of various levels of leadership and expertise
  • Ability to travel locally and internationally, including factory visits across Central and South America, and other regional locations
  • Ability to network and build trusting relationships with Target leaders, team members, external partners, and other third parties
  • Ability to think strategically and conceptually
  • Results-oriented, self-motivated, dedicated, enthusiastic and energetic
  • Knowledge of US retail industry and global economics, specifically in the Central and South America regions


Desired Requirements:
  • Qualified Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or other relevant certification (CAMS, CPA, Internal Audit, Compliance)
  • Market knowledge of applicable regional geographic areas
  • Experience working for a multinational retailer
  • Significant international business experience
  • Ability to travel to Central and South America for investigative purposes
  • ACE, EnCE, MPE+ and CCME certifications, computer forensic capabilities and experience


This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $85,400 to $153,700. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Target cares about and invests in you as a team member, so that you can take care of yourself and your family.
