A full-time position with benefits is available with the Minnesota House of Representatives as a Photographer for the nonpartisan Public Information Services office. The office supports the mission of the House of Representatives through news and information services, including: reporting on committees and floor sessions, informational publications, photography and television coverage.

This position exists to provide members, staff and the public with credible and timely nonpartisan public information through photographic services.  Among the photography tasks are: providing members, staff and House offices with timely delivery of digital images of committee meetings, floor sessions, bill signings, news conferences and other events; providing digital images for department information products and services; maintaining organized file records of digital images; and serving as photo staff lead for maintenance of digital imaging and print processing equipment. The photographer also serves as backup to the chief photographer/art and production coordinator for photography-related tasks, and for publication layout and design-related tasks.

A successful candidate will have a working knowledge of photojournalism, the latest photography techniques and technology, and publication production technology. Experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Lightroom is essential. A successful candidate must have the ability to regularly lift, carry and manipulate photographic equipment (such as camera bodies, lenses, tripod, camera bag) in order to promptly and effectively react to photographic opportunities, sometimes on short notice.

Must have a willingness to do a variety of tasks, and have the flexibility to be able to work long and irregular hours, especially during regular and special legislative sessions. A successful candidate must have the ability to perform the services assigned in a professional, nonpartisan and confidential manner.

Salary range: is $1,859.39 - $2,231.27 semi-monthly, commensurate with experience. This position is expected to begin in August 2022.
