About us:

Target is an iconic brand, a Fortune 50 company and one of America's leading retailers. Our purpose is to help all families discover the joy of everyday life.

Join a world-class Product Design, Content Design, Research and Accessibility team responsible for the human-centered design of our digital experiences (apps, website, in-store and team member tools). We envision and create inspiring, impactful and well-crafted solutions that serve our guests, team members and business in support of all families discovering the joy of everyday life, inclusive of Black, Indigenous, people of color, people with disabilities, non-binary, and low-income guests.

About the job:

As a Designer Program Manager with a focus on Design Operations, you'll bring our purpose to life as you support our 100+ person UX organization. Our new Design Operations practice focuses on the orchestration and optimization of the people, processes, and craft necessary to scale UX at Target. As a member of our emerging DesignOps team, you will lean on your design operations expertise to support and develop best practices for our UX team on how we work together, how we get work done, and how our work creates impact.

In this role, you will create highly efficient processes and measures that generate high-quality outputs to support scalable solutions so that the team can focus on executing, while leaders can focus on leading. In collaboration with the DesignOps leader and UX leadership team, you will focus on establishing models that support the UX team in three key areas: business operations such as tool management, standardization, and prioritization; team operations such as onboarding, communications, and collaboration; and people operations such as measuring success factors, coordinating team trainings, and cultivating our team culture. You'll leverage user-centered and design-thinking processes to solve problems.

You'll be in charge of your own destiny in an environment that has strong support for work-life balance. We'll support you along the way with robust onboarding, as well as personal and career development. The exciting part of retail? It's always changing! Core responsibilities of this job are described within this job description. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.

What you'll be doing:

  • Effectively using data and insights to identify critical gaps and weaknesses of existing processes
  • Helping to create a framework that would optimize day-to-day workflow-maximizing engagement and reducing duplicated efforts
  • Writing and maintaining documentation on the processes and models needed to operationalize UX and amplify the value of design across the organization
  • Tracking the impact of our work to help the team evaluate opportunities for continued improvements
  • Working with other teams across Target (store operations, supply chain, marketing, etc) to ensure a cohesive operations strategy across the different silos and roles

About you:

  • 4+ years of experience in digital software product work, with user experience emphases in research, process or service design, UX architecture and workflow, interaction design and/or visual design
  • A portfolio featuring product design and/or design operations work
  • Demonstrated knowledge of UX design best practices
  • Demonstrated strategic problem-solving, collaboration and influence skills
