A role within Target Social is an opportunity to drive constant growth and innovation within our strategies and plans. As Sr. Data Strategist, Target Social, you will contribute to Target's social strategies by providing access to and interpretation of past performance data, trends, and internal and external benchmarking. You will also offer future recommendations to advance Target's growth in Social. You will apply your detailed understanding of consumer attitudes and behaviors, combined with your ability to relentlessly drive initiatives forward, to support industry-leading plans that achieve Target's business objectives. You will work with key partners including Social Content & Commerce, Guest Insights, Digital, Target in India, Paid Social, Media Effectiveness, external agencies, and others to deliver reporting and insights, as well as intersect social data with other business critical data sources. You will be challenged to support in delivering compelling, seamless, and innovative work that inspires guests to choose Target.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

As Sr. Data Strategist, Target Social, you will help shape the future of Target Social by supporting, maintaining and bettering the foundation which Target's social strategy is built upon. You will seek to uncover data and insights that help shape performance and operations and answer business critical questions in areas, including:

  • Performance:
    • Guest segments and their engagement with discrete content types on individual social platforms
    • Optimal content, post frequency and amplification strategy
    • Content performance as measured through engagement, sales and more
    • Future forward social insights
    • Guest behavior, culture, and passion-points
  • Operations:
    • Data distribution and reporting, including automated solutions
    • Approach to social content tagging
    • Tools and technology advancements


Consulting with Social Content strategists throughout campaign lifecycles, you will own Target Social performance and learnings from concept to delivery, while also implementing process improvements, tool enhancements and reporting as you go. You will support authoring and updating always-on social content test-and-learn plans, spanning social content and commerce, plus paid and organic disciplines.You will also lead efforts to organize and evolve our social infrastructure - from tools and tagging to selling and scaling. This role requires the ability to thrive in an ambiguous space while delivering high quality, differentiated work.

About you
  • 4-year degree in Marketing, Finance, Analytics, Mathematics, or related areas of study
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience - social, reporting, web, ecommerce, digital product, or channel strategy experience preferred
  • Experience with Facebook insights, Twitter analytics, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, URL metrics, Excel, PowerPoint/Keynote
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent analytical, decision-making and project management skills
  • Detailed oriented, organized & deadline driven
  • Sees the big picture and crafts plans to get there
  • Ability to navigate complex organizations and ambiguous undefined spaces
  • Highly self-motivated with a keen sense of urgency to work independently and in team settings in a fast-paced environment; capability to manage urgent timelines
  • Curious and continuous learner; ability to push for constantly improved results while serving as the voice for Target's guest and business
