Commonbond Communities invites qualified applicants to apply for the Internal Communications Channel Manager position at our Central Office located in Saint Paul, MN The Internal Communications Channel Manager (the “Internal Manager”) shares responsibility with the External Communications Channel Manager to implement strategies designed by the Director of Communications for creating, managing, and distributing content to a diverse audience, including staff, donors, the general public, and various media outlets. 

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Executes strategy and produces content for internal Commonbond communications. 

  • Partners with department leaders to build processes for clear, consistent communication between staff members. 
  • Manages distribution of information to staff via email, print materials, the Commonbond Connections intranet, and other channels. 
  • Maintains the Resource Development’s shared file system and organization-wide brand asset library, style guide, and other marketing materials to ensure consistency. 
  • Works with the Director of Communications to update organization-wide communications standards. 
  • Manages interns as needed, focusing on creating, updating, or distributing content. 

 

TEAM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Shared Between Internal and External Managers) 

 Creates fundraising and donor stewardship communications. 

  • Creates and project manage annual editorial calendars to donor stewardship, fundraising appeals, and public communications activities. 
  • Collaborates with the Director of Communications to produce campaigns with compelling calls to action that help increase contributions to and awareness of CommonBond’s mission. 
  • Produces written content of varying lengths, as well as pictures, video, and graphic design assets to boost engagement.  

 

 Produces mission-focused content.

 

  • Works with Resource Development colleagues to develop all public-facing content such as web, email and direct mail, social media platforms, digital and print collateral documents, brand and style guides, and executive presentation materials. 
  • Maintains public relations through print and digital media, press releases, and other public channels. 
  • Makes data-informed decisions on advertising and other marketing needs.  
  • Manages third-party vendors providing marketing, advertising, data analysis, and other services as needed.   
  • Project manages the Annual Report. 
  • Manages interns as needed, focusing on creating, updating, or distributing content.   

 

 

 PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

 

  • Nonprofit Mission Focus & Core Competencies:  
  • Bachelor’s degree or 3 or more years of relevant work experience. 
  • Outstanding organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and details simultaneously. 
  • Strong desire and ability to work closely and collaboratively with others.  
  • Understanding of the unique mission-focused aspects of nonprofit marketing and communications.  
  • Project Management:  
  • Competency and comfort with project management, including planning, documenting, and executing multiple projects across departments. 
  • Ability to coordinate multiple short- and long-term projects at once, including regularly scheduled communications to donors, event-related marketing efforts, and time-sensitive public relations and crisis management.        

Content Creation:  

 

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including excellent grammar and proofreading abilities. 
  • Graphic design experience and working knowledge of various design software platforms (Adobe Creative suite). 
  • Working knowledge of website management platforms (WordPress) 
  • Comprehensive, multi-platform social media management.  
  • Working knowledge of email marketing practices and platforms (MailChimp, Online Express, and Constant Contact). 
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office software.  

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

 

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time. 
  • Ability to operate a computer for writing, web, and other software.
