A role with the Merchandise Analytics team is a chance to shape how core merchandising teams place product and build strategies that directly impact the guest. As a Lead Data Analyst on the Business Partnerships & Negotiations team, you will spend your time determining the best approach to gather, model, manipulate, analyze and present data. You will work within an agile environment (in partnership with Business Partnerships & Negotiations, Merch Finance, Product, and Data Sciences Engineering) which would require you to lead analyst activities and be the voice of analytics & reporting in broader team/CFT settings. In this role, you'll have opportunities to continuously upskill to stay current with new technologies in the industry via formal training, peer training groups and self-directed education.

Responsibilities & Requirements:
  • Be the voice of data-driven culture, work closely with Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams, helping them understand business needs and direct their efforts towards initiatives with the highest impact
  • Have a deep understanding of data sourcing (preferably Target's data layout) and ability to translate existing code from one platform/language to another
  • Can tell a story around a problem, solution, impact and value of implementing a solution
  • Define data to be collected for measuring the success of new product features, define KPIs, and work with engineering on tracking and instrumentation of data
  • Design and build self-service dashboards using a mixture of analytical and visualization techniques to derive actionable insight from data to influence business and product decisions
  • Democratize data and insights as you strive to deliver self-service tools to your partners and enable them to make better decisions more quickly
  • Deliver dashboard reporting and hold products and businesses accountable for results against goals and objectives

About You:
  • BS/BA or strong equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of work experience in analytics or masters level education in business analytics, data science, etc.
  • Advanced SQL experience writing complex queries; experience in analytical tools such as: Excel, Python (pyspark), Hadoop/Hive, or equivalent technologies
  • Solid problem solving and analytical skills; intellectually curious, high energy with strong work ethic
  • Advanced proficiency in at least one visualization tool (ie. Domo, Tableau, Power BI) with willingness and ability to learn additional visualization tools
  • Ability to identify, summarize, and remove roadblocks and constraints; present trade-offs and propose solutions that drive toward resolution. Own and deliver implementation.
  • Partnering with data engineering team


This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $85,400-$153,700.
