About the Job

We are seeking a Senior UX Manager for our Operational Communications team. This team is responsible for the design and development of operational emails and push notifications, including comms related to orders, account, reviews, loyalty, registry, and much more! We send over 1 billion operational emails and push notifications each year and this team has a significant impact on our guest's experience and business. As a manager you'll have responsibility for the success of a team of hybrid designers/developers responsible for ensuring our comms are relevant, empathetic and scalable.

In this role you will...

  • Provide regular, effective feedback, check-ins and reviews for people who report to you.
  • Coach team members to increase their impact.

  • Help team members grow their design, email development and soft skills.
  • Provide day-to-day coaching and direction that elevates the work of your team.
  • Educate and advocate for what your team needs to be successful.
  • Develop a strategic vision for how operational communications delivers on guests needs, while keeping in mind the larger ecosystem of communications flowing from Target.
  • Partner with Product Owners, Content Designers, UX Researchers and strategic stakeholders to identify high-impact opportunities for operational communications now and in the future.
  • Establish and maintain processes, workflows and templates that enable your team to maximize their impact and satisfaction.

About You

  • 7+ years of experience in digital product work with emphasis in email design & development, UX design, research methods, visual design.
  • Examples of successful team leadership and growth for a mix of designer/developer skillsets.
  • Demonstrated understanding of how and when to use UX methods to inform your team's work.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the unique opportunities and challenges that exist for email and push communications.
  • Emotional intelligence-the ability to truly understand what each individual on your team needs to thrive and feel fulfilled.
  • A portfolio of projects that showcases your team's work and impact.

  • A demonstrated ability to lead initiatives end-to-end and with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (both written and oral).
  • Dedicated to people management as a critical part of your role; able to assess and grow talent.
  • Comfortable working without formal requirements or top-down decisions.
  • Bonus points: 1+ year experience managing a hybrid design/development team, experience with ESPs and email testing tools like Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Litmus.

This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $105,800-$190,400 Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Target cares about and invests in you as a team member, so that you can take care of yourself and your family.
