Strategic Intelligence Team Overview:

The Strategic Intelligence team serves as Target's source of truth for economic, retail industry and competitive insights and intelligence. The team is responsible for developing actionable insights that inform Target's corporate strategy, planning, and portfolio decisions. To do so, the team produces analytically ambitious, predictive intelligence with compelling narratives that help shape Target's short and long term aspirations. The team operates in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. Each team member develops a deep and proactive understanding of the rapidly evolving industry, consumer, competitor, and regional drivers and trends. The Intelligence Lead will be responsible for leading strategic intelligence project work for the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors.

Position Overview:

The candidate will be responsible for one or more of the below principal duties and responsibilities:
  • Day to day thought leadership on mid to long term project teams that inform Target's corporate strategy, planning and portfolio decisions
  • Contribute economic, industry and competitive insights and intelligence to Board of Director deliverables
  • Develop specific scenarios based on insights and assess Target's strategy against probable outcomes through research and intelligence; support scenario planning and war gaming to pressure-test Target's strategies against market and competitive actions
  • Serve as a trusted expert and consultant in proactively developing insights and intelligence in service of Target's existing and future strategic direction
  • Project manage the coordination and collaboration with partners across the Enterprise to maximize impact of work
  • Ensure constant and widespread understanding of trends and external factors with key partners across Target
  • Create succinct, compelling and actionable narratives for senior leaders to inform their decision making


KEY RELATIONSHIPS

The candidate will be responsible for maintaining all of the following relationships:
  • Reports to Director Intelligence
  • Ongoing working relationships with strategy development, strategic planning, finance, and insights functions across the organization
  • Other key relationships with Merchandising, Marketing, Digital, Food & Beverage, Stores and Risk


About You:
  • 4-year college degree, post graduate degree strongly preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in corporate strategy, competitive intelligence or category management
  • Prior experience in retail or CPG industry and deep understanding of industry dynamics and the competitive landscape across channels, categories
  • Demonstrated ability to lead strategic project work, simultaneously managing working team, partner and executive relationships
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual problem-solving skills and ability to synthesize and clearly communicate complex findings to focus on critical issues and actionable opportunities
  • Analytical experience from situation assessment through solutions with tangible results leveraging syndicated data resources (VIQ, IRI or Nielsen; Scan, Panel, Spectra, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong ability to tell compelling business and result stories with data. Experience facilitating engagement with VP/SVP-level leaders
  • Track record developing critical stakeholder relationships (VP/SVP-level) across the organization to help influence and guide strategic relationships
  • Innate curiosity and desire to learn with a strong inclination to drive for results in ambiguous spaces.


This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

The salary range is $85,400-$153,700.
