A role in Indirect, Reverse and Third Party Logistics means managing the inbound throughput and placement of the indirect materials that are required to operate the stores. This also includes the logistics operations for guest returns as well as the management of all Global Supply Chain Third Party Logistics Solutions. Reverse and Return Logistics handles the backward movement of all goods including logistics and inventory management, disposition and channel designation, disposition strategies like retail un-sellables, salvage and regulatory and waste minimization. Indirect Logistics includes order execution and movement, warehousing/storage, operations such as facility and Third Party Logistics management and inventory demand management and forecasting.

As a Lead Project Manager, Third Party Logistics, you will have a leadership role in the development of the end-to-end current and future-state value stream and the problem solving, planning, and execution of to make compelling improvements. Focus areas include improving safety, freight flow, throughput capacity, cycle time, quality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

The following items may change based on business need.
  • Development of the current and future-state end-to-end value stream map including activities such as group Kaizen facilitation, data collection, analytics, problem solving, and reports outs.
  • Coordination/participation of problem solving to bridge the gap between the current and future-state value stream.
  • Leading the planning, execution, business case validation, and handoff of projects to run-state teams including those related to value stream improvements and also the expansion/contraction of the third party network.
  • Overall project ownership and/or workstream ownership within a project with a framework that keeps the project team organized, informed and aligned, and accountable. A few examples of workstreams include scoping, schedule coordination, testing, and business case validation.
  • Develop internal tools & templates to assist with scheduling, budgeting, and the tracking and managing of projects
  • Communication of progress, milestones, challenges against the plan, and escalation of issues
  • Learn and promote industry and regulatory safety requirements & procedures


Minimum Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, supply chain, project management, or other relevant field
  • 5+ years of combined experience in process engineering, supply chain, and/or project management.
  • Proficient with Lean/6-Sigma problem solving methodologies including activities such as value stream mapping, Kaizen events, cycle time studies, and statistical analysis.
  • Strong foundation of analytical skills with experience using tools like Excel and Minitab
  • Experience managing projects and/or workstreams within a projects and capable of using project planning software programs such as Smartsheet.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to lead/support recurring project meetings, facilitate Kaizen events, and provide stakeholder updates/tours.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across all internal and external teams including project partners, vendors, site teams, and stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment
  • Ability to travel 25% with variability up to 50% during project work


Desired Requirements
  • MBA or advanced degree in relevant field
  • Lean/6 Sigma certifications
  • PMP/PMI, AGILE, Smartsheet, certifications desired


This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $81,300 to $146,400.
