As a Senior Engineering Manager, Available to Promise Inventory (ATP), you will be responsible for leading ATP Inventory/Allocation team. ATP is a suite of products that enable commerce @ Target by providing inventory availability, guest promise and fulfilment options. You and your team will be responsible for the design and development of high-performance API's and systems to provide accurate and optimized availability based on delivery options for our guests with efficient shipment dates.

With the growth seen in Target.com, ATP applications are designed to handle over 1 million requests per second. As part of this team the key focus areas would be

A technical rewrite of the application with the latest tech stack and simplified architecture. Optimization in both business/technical space enabling continued growth with reduced infrastructural cost for the upcoming years Improving the availability accuracy using modernized inventory information and data intelligence Maximizing availability tapping into inventory across all possible nodes Restructuring of the application considering simplification, precomputation, and optimization. Continued improvements on allocation efficiencies enabling through new fulfillment options developed.

Responsibilities

You will use your skills, experience and talents to be a part of groundbreaking thinking and visionary goals. As an engineering leader, you will

  • Drive product development and operations with lead engineers and drive technical decision making, adhering to Target platform architecture and other enterprise decisions.
  • Have a strong focus on team management and development, equal focus will be on writing production code and hands on active development of the capabilities and solutions.
  • Assist in defining infrastructure need, internal vs. external cloud and use of Target enterprise solution and drive resolution of technology roadblocks including code, infrastructure, build and deployment and managing overall software development cycle by adhering to development and security standards.
  • Establish good stakeholder communication and work closely with partner teams and influence setting roadmap and help drive requirements while being a strong advocate of extreme agile and DevOps practices across engineers.
  • Advocate for technologies, frameworks, design patterns, processes and guiding values of the domain architecture
  • Build and manage a team of high performing full stack engineers and provide leadership, coaching, motivation and recommend staffing levels, operating procedures, tools and systems for the team. Provide career development and performance management to a team of engineers.


About you:
  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of related experience; 5+ years of experience software engineering and 1+ years in leadership roles
  • Deep understanding of building highly scalable distributed systems.
  • Deep understanding of system design and architecture.
  • Exposure to caching technologies is a big plus (Hazelcast)
  • Ability to convey technical solutions clearly to team and beyond.
  • Experience building and leading Agile teams that have adopted modern CI/CD practices and have hosted workloads in the external or private cloud environments
  • Experience in managing global teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to articulate and present technical problems and providing solution to Product Managers and Engineers
  • Team oriented and passionate to develop team skills and capabilities
  • Successful track record of leading Technical Initiatives at enterprise or product level
  • Experience in retail domain is also a big plus.
  • Experience in managing P1/P2 Critical Systems
  • Expertise in Data Integration and handling of large volume of Transactional Data (Kafka)
  • Knowledge and Proficiency in programming language like Java/Kotlin
  • Knowledge in Distributed High Scale Caching Architecture
  • Experience in Cloud infrastructure Public or Private Clouds
