The Director of Innovation & Systems Change leads Target's efforts to explore, test and implement innovative Sustainability technologies, partnerships, and processes to ensure the Company meets its sustainability / TF goals. This position will partner with CR teams, suppliers, and business functions to identify and investigate innovative sustainability offerings, build the business case for a strategic innovation roadmap, form innovative collaborations/partnerships, lead/partner on pilot/proof of concept activities, analyze innovation-related results, and develop the long-term innovation pipeline for Target's sustainability efforts. The role will interact with all levels of the organization and will partner very closely with Growth and innovation teams across the company. In addition. This role will oversee the external strategy to create the right conditions for innovations to scale from strategic collaborations to advocacy work, for which this role will partner with the Public Affairs organization.

About you:
  • BA/MA/MS degree in Business Administration, Environmental Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering or related field or combination of relevant education, experience, and training
  • 10+ years' experience in innovation, sustainable business models, green ventures, digital transformation, consulting or similar and/or industry experience
  • Ability to develop leading edge business models, frameworks for analysis, and long-term business strategies that maximize shareholder value
  • Strong plus if you have experience in incubation, venture capital, corporate strategy, corporate innovation, or similar field
  • Strong project management, process, and organizational skills, including handling and prioritizing multiple responsibilities to achieve strategic objectives
  • Comprehensive research and analytical skills; ability to gather information quickly related to consumers, industries, and competitors and synthesize it into concrete information
  • Capability to build and maintain cross-functional, multi-sector networks with internal and external stakeholder and navigate complex organizational structures
  • Deep understanding of systems, systems change and ability to craft strategies to mobilize the system to create the right condition to scale new innovations
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to gather relevant data and information, actively listen, dialogue freely, and verbalize ideas effectively
  • Experience crafting and delivering presentations to senior leadership and external leaders
  • Proven track record to think creatively, recognize new business opportunities, understand new technologies, and communicate ideas
  • Commercial experience delivering against a P&L is a plus


This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $119,500k to $215,100k.
