Working within Tax, your mission will be to drive value-added work and support our core retail business goals. Our tax team focuses on all aspects of tax reporting including enhancing productivity and efficiency of core compliance through process and technology, monitoring tax risk and opportunities across all tax disciplines, engaging and educating Finance and the broader organization regarding tax considerations, and prioritizing team resources to support key work streams.

As a Senior Manager of Property Tax, you will be responsible for various aspects of the real estate and personal property tax functions. This role primarily leads the property tax compliance, accounting, and appeals processes which includes owning a portfolio of states in which you review property values and tax assessments, approve tax payments, while managing and representing Target in the appeals of our real estate taxes. You will also ensure our property tax expense is timely and accurately recorded and review the tax accrual for your portfolio of states.

In this role, you will lead a team, either directly or indirectly, of tax experts and advisors and support the growth, development, and cross training of team members. You will develop and implement work plans and timelines to proactively prepare for peak workload demands and uphold best in class business control processes and tax documentation to be used for tax and financial statement audits. You will also monitor tax legislative changes (both proposed and enacted) in order to quantify and communicate the impact to Target. In this role, you will leverage your strong communication and problem solving skills while advising internal business partners of tax implications and considerations of new business initiatives and partner to create solutions that will help Target grow.

About you:
  • 6+ years of Property Tax experience with a property tax consulting firm or equivalent experience in a large corporate tax department
  • Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Finance or related business area preferred
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of US GAAP accounting principles
  • Proven ability to effectively develop, manage, and inspire team members and work together as a team
  • Ability to investigate, strategize, and solve problems while working with ambiguity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience advocating for tax matters both internally and with external auditors and government officials
  • Experience with iTam and SAP, or similar tax software and general ledger system, and data analytics tools such as Alteryx, PowerBI, DOMO or other analytics software is preferred


This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

The salary range is $85,400-$153,700.
