Responsibilities
  • Drive the technical roadmap and vision for Target's Hardware Engineering Team.
  • Design, develop, and enhance internal API's and cloud-based microservice applications.
  • Design implements applications using Python, Java, Go and ReactJS.
  • Using your software engineering skills to add new features, fix defects, and refactor code.
  • Learning and using the tech stack for our product to design and build software that will solve critical problems for the business.
  • Improving our technical solutions by measuring, optimizing, and refactoring the code.
  • Demonstrating a solid understanding of the impact of own work on the team and/or guests.
  • Building and using monitoring that supports our product with a 24x7 on-call rotation.
  • Design infrastructure and systems that are reliable, scalable, fault-tolerant, and maintainable.
  • Provide guidance on the technical direction of strategic initiatives.
  • Mentor fellow engineers.
  • Learning and growing as an engineer by spending up to 50 days a year focused on learning.


Requirements
  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of software development experience.
  • Proficiency in major programming languages like Golang, Python and Java.
  • Exposure to microservices, API's, cloud development and event-driven architecture.
  • Maintains technical knowledge within areas of expertise.
  • Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education.
  • Basic understanding of working with source versioning tools, such as Git and CI/CD.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills demonstrating technical leadership.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, product owners, and designers to identify and solve challenging problems.


This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

The salary range is $81,400-$146,500.
