CommonBond Communities invites qualified applicants to apply for the Academic Coordinator Position at our  Central Office located in St.Paul, MN. The Academic Coordinator establishes and implements K-8 reading and math curricula and interventions for youth in out-of-school time programs performing below grade level with the goal of getting youth to grade level.

 

 

Curriculum Development and Lesson Planning

·         Identify academic curricula and/or resources in reading and math to use in an Out of School Time environment with K-8th youth.

·         Design framework for individualized academic interventions/lesson plans for cohort of youth served in Out of School Time programs.

·         Utilize historical and current assessment data to inform interventions and lesson plans.

Training and support

·         Train volunteer mentors to implement the interventions and lesson plans with youth with which they work.

·         Train mentors and staff on implementation of academic assessments.

·         Observe mentors’ implementation of interventions and lessons and provide feedback and coaching

Assessment

·         Provide leadership on use of academic assessments.

·         Conduct assessments at select sites.

·         Train mentors and staff on progress monitoring.

·         Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in related field or at least three years’ experience in a related field.

·         Ability to analyze academic assessment data and develop targeted interventions in response.

·         1 year experience working in education, youth development, human services or social services.

·         Available to work M-Th 3pm – 6pm (minimum) plus additional hours for program planning and administration.

·         Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Software and web based programs.

·         Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

·         Demonstrated experience working within diverse communities, which include people of various ages, gender, sexual orientations, national origins, income levels, ability levels, religious affiliations, races, and languages.

·         Be Certified in CPR and First Aid or have the ability to become certified within six months of starting position

·         Multilingual.

·         Teaching license in Elementary Education, K-6, or K-8.

·         3 or more years of experience working in education, youth development, human services or social services.

·         Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

·         Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 50 lbs.

·         Ability to bend, stoop and crouch.

·         Ability to file documents.

·         Ability to enter data into a computer.

·         Ability to interact verbally with internal and external audiences.

·         Must be willing and able to travel between sites.

·         Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as scheduled.

·         Must be willing to carry a cell phone.
