The Financial Aid Counselor administers and awards federal, state, institutional and private aid to students. For many students financial aid is a critical component of their decision to join us at St. Catherine University. Responsibilities are to:
- Represent St. Catherine University to diverse student applicants and their families as a collaborative and helpful campus resource, providing excellent customer service to all.
- Counsel students and parents from a wide array of backgrounds regarding eligibility and requirements for federal, state, institutional, and private student financial aid programs to meet student needs.
- Review student financial aid applications and determine eligibility following federal, state, and institutional policies.
- Complete federal Verification and resolve conflicting data.
- Repackage or revise aid due to student status changes and evaluate applications where there are extenuating circumstances.
- Prepare and deliver financial aid presentations to the campus community and external audiences.
- Liaise with community stakeholders for teacher grant and scholarship programs.
- Collaborate with team members to update financial aid application materials and procedures and regulations and requirements change.

Minimum Qualifications
- Associate Degree
- One (1) year experience in higher education in offices like financial aid, admissions, or other student services areas.
- Dedication to providing excellent customer service to St. Catherine University community
- Ability and desire to work with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds
- Proven ability to work as a team member, exceptional organizational and interpersonal communication skills
- Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid policies and regulations
- Ability to think creatively and analytically to resolve complex problems
- Ability to analyze and interpret data and make independent decisions
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy; ability to follow thorough and resolve conflict
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer mainframe and software
- Ability to meet deadlines and process a high volume of work with great accuracy
