Team & Job Overview:

The Product Insights team leads qualitative and quantitative research for Target's owned brand products in support of key business needs and opportunities. Can you work cross-functionally to develop and implement the right research methodology that supports product & packaging requirements? Are you a self-starter who can independently run consumer research including methodology design, execution, analysis, synthesis and deliverables? Then take your place in a role in which your positive influence is felt throughout the entire product development life cycle, from new product & package innovation to ongoing product improvements and maintenance.

A role with Target's Product Insights team is an opportunity to bring owned brands to life by anchoring in insights to develop brands, products, and packaging that our guests will love. You will leverage internal and external partnerships to support innovation, product creation, and packaging development projects. Your influence and ability to efficiently consult with cross-functional partners, plan strategic research, execute, and communicate actionable insights will add value to the business teams, enabling Target to build differentiated owned brands.

As an Associate Product Insights Researcher, you will focus on the key responsibilities with the company:

Integrating guest understanding into the development process to help the business make better decisions
  • Conduct product research for Essentials & Beauty categories (new products, existing products)
  • Utilize a variety of testing methods to meet project objectives/goals in the development process


Building strategic partnerships with cross-functional partners & stakeholders
  • Develop strong and strategic cross-functional partnerships across various departments, such as Product Development, Packaging, Sourcing, Food Safety & Quality Assurance, Brand Management, and Enterprise Insights
  • Leverage internal and external partnerships to support consumer research


As an Associate Product Insights Researcher, you will conduct product research, utilizing a variety of testing techniques. You will work with cross-functional teams on research needs, and execute, analyze & interpret consumer data to deliver insights to meet business needs. We will support you along the way with robust onboarding, as well as personal and career development, to help you grow as a Product Insights Researcher. The exciting part of retail? Minimum Job Requirements
  • B.S in a research-related field such as Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology, Design Research, Market Research or a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 1-2 years relevant experience in market/consumer research
  • Understanding of a range of consumer research principles and methods, and their application to product development, including descriptive analysis
  • Accountable and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to apply statistics to consumer projects and analyze data
  • Skilled in various competencies: attention to detail, problem solver, organized, communication, collaborative


Desired Job Requirements

  • B.S in a research-related field such as Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology, Design Research, Market Research or a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 2-3 years relevant experience in sensory science / consumer research
  • Solid understanding of a range of consumer research principles and methods, and their application to product development, including descriptive analysis
  • Working knowledge of quantitative market research methods desired
  • Understanding of different research techniques (within qualitative, quantitative) and their application to product development
  • Solid understanding of statistical design & analysis; demonstrated ability to apply statistics to sensory projects, and to analyze and interpret data using Excel, XLSTAT
  • High degree of initiative and attention to detail; works with a sense of urgency
  • Strong critical thinking & problem solving skills and the ability to accurately record, organize & analyze data
  • Ability to deliver insights to partners in a compelling, storytelling way to influence cross-functional partners & key business decisions
  • Ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to build relationships with cross-functional partners and the broader organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


OWNED BRANDS NO HIRE STATES:

This position may be eligible to be virtual based (also known as full-time remote) or could be 'Flex for your Day', a hybrid model where the team member has some flexibility to choose how and where they work to maximize their productivity and well-being, based on Target's needs. Most of Target's HQ team members work 'Flex for Your Day' with a blend of virtual work and onsite at a Target HQ location. Team members work with their leader to determine how the role, team, partners and business determines the flexibility. For team members who work virtual based, they enter into a work arrangement that means the team member works full-time from home or a non-Target location, and do not have a workstation at their assigned HQ location, but may travel to a HQ site up to 4 times a year.

**A virtual based work arrangement is strictly prohibited for candidates residing in the following 16 states: AL, AR, DE, FL, IN, IA, LA, MD, MS, MO, NC, OK, PA, SC, TN, VA. If you are hired and are working remotely from one of the states listed above you may be subject to corrective action up to and including termination.

This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target. The salary range is :$52,200.00 USD - $94,000.00 USD.
