About Us:

As a Fortune 50 company with more than 350,000 team members worldwide, Target is an iconic brand and one of America's leading retailers.

Working at Target means the opportunity to help all families discover the joy of everyday life. Caring for our communities is woven into who we are, and we invest in the places we collectively live, work and play. We prioritize relationships, fuel and develop talent by creating growth opportunities, and succeed as one Target team. At our core, our purpose is ingrained in who we are, what we value, and how we work. It's how we care, grow, and win together.

At the heart of one of the world's best loved and most recognizable brands is an impeccable Owned Brand Management & Product Design organization. We thrive on the magic of discovering that just-right thing, and we infuse everything we do with our passion for affordable chic. We concept, develop, make and deliver the stylish new favorites that Target guests expect and deserve. We are uber-savvy trend and style experts who stay ahead of the curve, proactively identifying our market's needs and exceeding them, every time. Join one of our dynamic and inventive teams to influence the style, quality and value that decisively position Target above the competition. Your input will have a direct and positive effect, whether on home, hardlines, essentials, beauty, or apparel categories. Here, you'll be close to the action of dreaming up and bringing to life the Target-owned brands that surprise and gratify guests, wherever and whenever they love to shop.

A role as a Sr. Engineer, Responsible Materials - Plastics means continuing the transformation to more sustainable plastics used in Owned Brand products. Do you love to create solutions that solve problems for people, planet AND product? Can you collaborate across stakeholders to identify challenges and find novel solutions that work at scale? Then you'll find success on Target's Owned Brand Responsible Materials team. In close partnership with Design, Sourcing, Packaging and Corporate Responsibility you will help drive Target's progress towards more sustainable plastic products. You'll also collaborate with vendors to ensure that this approach is clearly understood and successfully brought to life with every product we offer.

As the Sr. Engineer, Responsible Materials - Plastics, you'll be accountable for championing and advancing the plastics related aspects of Owned Brand sustainability standards and polices while proactively looking for new solutions that reduce the environmental and social impacts of plastics. You will partner with category specific subject matter experts as well as translate your objectives to partners who may have little background in plastics sustainability standards. You will use your experience to develop guest-centric product solutions in partnership with key internal partners, NGOs, industry groups, suppliers and standards organizations. You'll advance the technical training curriculum and utilize industry networking opportunities to improve our research and development efforts and build Target's reputation as a great place to work, learn, develop and advance.

You will be accountable to lead as a strategic driver, build strong partnerships, influence with expertise and champion our team and Company values. This will be accomplished through:

STRATEGY

Using your expertise and industry connections related to plastics, you will evolve our vision and navigate complex development to advance pyramid, division & category goals. You will support or lead all required lab testing, guest research, continuous improvement, technical specifications, and track industry trends to create strategies & roadmaps for product development across divisions & categories. Advance & champion integration of responsible, circular and inclusive initiatives into a clear plastics strategy across Target's Owned Brands.

PARTNERSHIP & INFLUENCE

Leveraging your leadership and strategic thought, you will build collaborative relationships with internal and external partners including experts in the field, government agencies and business partners to drive business growth and brand credibility. Your insights will educate, motivate and influence product development and future vision for leadership and team. You will represent Target at relevant external moments to track industry trends, building a broad and diverse perspective on products & approach. You will establish deep relationship with vendor base, unlocking capabilities and growth in brand & business; mitigating risk through trusted partnerships.

TEAM & VALUES

Your leadership will create a talent pipeline by coaching and mentoring entry level engineers in the field, both inside and outside of Target. Valuing an inclusive environment and leading through a positive team culture will showcase your commitment to team growth and development. You are a consistent champion of leadership behaviors & will be accountable for showcasing Target values of inclusivity, connection and drive. Showcase your support for team by leveraging feedback to learn from and bring greater perspective.
