As a Sr. Corporate Media Relations Specialist you will:
  • Serve on the media relations team, supporting core business areas such as Corporate Responsibility, DEI, Finance, HR and Operations
  • Develop and execute media relations strategies that support Target's cultural, business and reputation goals in dedicated business areas
  • Engage and influence media coverage of Target news
  • Build and maintain beneficial relationships with media, including national, business, consumer, trade and diverse-owned media
  • Serve as company spokesperson
  • Support Target leaders and team members during all media engagements, providing strategic insight and counsel on the media landscape
  • Respond appropriately and timely to all media inquiries
  • Develop and execute significant media plans such as Holiday communications, owned brand launches, or Financial Community Day to drive outstanding results
  • Support media events involving Target
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships across the enterprise to deliver important and strategic stories in media
  • Work across an integrated communications model, partnering closely with communications specialties such as content strategy, editorial, video production, social media, and crisis communications
  • Consistently demonstrate behaviors aligned to Target's values of Inclusivity, Connection, and Drive
  • Other duties as assigned

About You:
  • Minimum of 4 year degree in Communications, Business, Marketing, or related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in media relations, with experience at global agency and/or in-house corporate communications teams.
  • Strong team player, highly effective at collaborating and influencing internal partners, inclusive of senior leadership, and build strong relationships across large, matrixed organization.
  • Strong business acumen
  • Storytelling mindset
  • Excellent news writing and awareness. Ability to craft company responses to media
  • 10% Travel

  • Substantial media relations experience across consumer, business, and trade media
  • Track record of working effectively with media
  • Crisis communications experience
  • Experience with large, well-known or top ranked brands


This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target. The salary range is :$85,400.00 USD - $153,700.00 USD.
