JOB POSITION: Senior Engineer

LOCATION: 7000 Target Parkway North, Brooklyn Park, MN 55445

DUTIES: Architect and develop secure, dependable, and scalable Internet of Things (IoT) and software solutions; develop reusable components and libraries and use microservices to develop scalable, secure and efficient solutions; containerize applications and deploy them to clusters; create metrics, dashboards and alarms to monitor applications; identify development issues, brainstorm solutions, and recommend changes for optimal functionality; apply and maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies within specialized areas of Target's technology domain; apply deep understanding of security vulnerabilities and ensure there are no vulnerabilities in the infrastructure architecture and the code; perform functional design and architecture discussions with understanding of process flows and system diagrams to enable software design decisions; participate in construction, automation, and implementation activities, ensuring successful implementation with architectural and operational requirements and best practices met; leverage engineering experience to eliminate repeat occurrences of software problems; create unit, integration, and performance tests and achieve required code coverage; and communicate technical information clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical Target team stakeholders. Technologies/skills used: Kotlin, Micronaut, Docker, Kubernetes, Gradle, Vela, Drone, Java, build automation, pipeline automation, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), RESTful architecture, Swagger, APIs, JUnit, Kotest, Pitest (PIT), JaCoCo, SQL and NoSQL databases, Agile, Kafka, Design Patterns, OAuth protocol, Algorithms, Microservices architecture and Object-Oriented Programming and relational databases. Position includes a telecommute benefit within commuting distance to Minneapolis-area Target office, as directed.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field and at least three (3) years of experience in software development (any title) designing and developing solutions; working on SQL and NoSQL databases; creating unit, integration, and performance tests; performing containerization, configuration management, application security, and continuous integration or continuous delivery; and using Object-oriented programming, Algorithms, Design Patterns, OAuth protocol, RESTful architecture, Microservices architecture, Docker, Kubernetes, Gradle, JUnit, and Kafka. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field and at least five (5) years of post-baccalaureate, progressive experience in software development (any title) designing and developing solutions; working on SQL and NoSQL databases; creating unit, integration, and performance tests; performing containerization, configuration management, application security, and continuous integration or continuous delivery; and using Object-oriented programming, Algorithms, Design Patterns, OAuth protocol, RESTful architecture, Microservices architecture, Docker, Kubernetes, Gradle, JUnit, and Kafka. Position includes a telecommute benefit within commuting distance to Minneapolis-area Target office, as directed.
