A role in Finance Operations within the Controller's Group calls on your skills for quality financial reporting and accurate financials and technical accounting while providing thoughtful and responsive support, expertise and guidance to business partners. Your role will be critical to ensuring the success of Target's business initiatives and core retail operations.
As Payroll Director, you'll provide strategic direction and leadership to the global payroll team, ensuring all operational and accounting processes and controls are effective for timely, accurate and efficient payroll activities. You will manage compliance with all aspects of payroll regulations, including payment processing, payroll tax and garnishment, accounting principles and Sarbanes Oxley. By partnering closely with Human Resources, you will drive a comprehensive approach to our team member payroll experience. Leverage your strong strategic and analytical skills to anticipate and analyze new payroll industry trends and regulatory developments and solve problems to drive industry-leading performance metrics. This role reports to the Vice President, Finance Operations.

- College degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of supervisory accounting and/or operations experience
- Demonstrated inclusive team leadership skills; ability to develop and motivate team members with diverse experiences and backgrounds
- Communicate clearly to senior leadership, both written and verbal
- Proven ability to act strategically and analytically with process and control discipline
- Experience collaborating effectively across functional areas
- Substantial payroll leadership experience preferred
- Workday payroll system experience a plus
This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target. The salary range is :$123,100.00 USD - $221,600.00 USD.
