S1 Salary Range: $67,515.00 annually - $104,850.00 annually

S2 Salary Range: $83,094.00 annually - $122,809.00 annually

S3 Salary Range: $93,480.00 annually - $151,116.00 annually

Attorney General Keith Ellison is accepting applications on a rolling basis from attorneys at all levels of experience who are interested in a career of public service and representing the government in significant lawsuits to help Minnesotans afford their lives and live with dignity, safety, and respect. 

Assistant Attorneys General appear on behalf of the State of Minnesota in administrative, state, and federal district and appellate courts in a wide variety of case types.  The work of the Office of the Attorney General protects public safety, everyday consumers and workers, the environment, and the State and its various agencies and boards.  Attorneys can expect excellent litigation experience in handling their own cases and helping to build and create a better, safer, and more equitable Minnesota. 

This posting will help staff the various divisions of the Office; your applications will be considered as hiring needs arise. Applications received from this posting will be used to fill current and future vacancies in these job classes at the Office of the Minnesota Attorney General through May 8, 2023.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from a law school accredited by the ABA
  • Licensed to practice in the State of Minnesota or ability to obtain licensures within 90 days of hire
  • Demonstrated outstanding skill in:
    • Research and writing (submission of a writing sample is required)
    • Critical thinking
    • Communication
  • Ability to:
    • Perform responsibilities with a high level of professionalism
    • Demonstrate excellent judgement, character, and work ethic
    • Interact successfully with clients and members of the public
    • Contribute positively to a team and work in a diverse, inclusive, creative, and collaborative work environment

 

IMPORTANT! Applicants must include a writing sample (maximum 5 pages) with a cover letter to be considered for this position.

 

To be considered at the Staff Attorney 2 (S2) level, applicants must have 6 or more years of civil litigation experience or equivalent.

To be considered at the Staff Attorney 3 (S3) level, applicants must have 12 or more years of civil litigation experience or equivalent.
