Overview

The Harbor and The Haven at Peace Village is hiring a People Services Specialist (Human Resources Specialist). The Harbor at Peace Village consists of 36 assisted living rental apartment homes, and The Haven has 25 assisted living and 12 memory care apartments. Both are located in adjacent sites in Norwood Young America, Minnesota. The Harbor and The Haven at Peace Village are managed by Ecumen.

Responsibilities

The People Services Specialist works in accordance with established policies and procedures, manages employee relations, employee files, workers compensation claims, leave of absences, keeping accurate employee records, and on-boarding and orientation of new employees as well as overseeing all aspects of the people services job function. This role is critical in executing our initiatives, providing great customer support and driving PS functional excellence and process improvement.

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday typical business hours. Can vary given the needs of the community.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Oversees and directs the job posting, recruitment, onboarding, hiring, and orientation process and off boarding for all employees. Communicates daily with leadership team ensuring processes are completed timely and according to policy.
  • Schedules and conducts New Hire Onboarding in coordination with other sites within the region. Oversees the benefits processes including COBRA processes.
  • Monitors staff turn-over and retention and implements creative ideas for recruitment and retention. Performs exit interviews with staff leaving employment.
  • Prepares and submits all EEO, Affirmative Action, OSHA 300, and all other Government- mandated reports.
  • Advises and supports other department directors/mangers with employee related issues or concerns. Acts as a liaison between managers and employees to ensure employees are treated fairly and policies are applied consistently.
  • Provides assistance to site leader for strategic planning of site pay structures and staffing levels and participates in the budget planning process.
  • Oversees worker's compensation and leave of absence processes to ensure fairness and consistency. Tracks employee LOA requests and coordinates with out-sourced administrator. Ensures payments are made accurately and timely, as indicated.
  • Completes weekly reports, including open positions and onboarding information and submits to supervisor
  • Qualifications

    People Services Specialist

    Minimum Required Qualifications:
    • Associate Degree or equivalent experience
    • 1+ years in Human Resources and/or healthcare related experience.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook)
    • Ability to follow all safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the facility including but not limited to: Vulnerable Adult and Abuse Policy, HIPAA, Resident's Bill of Rights, Universal Precaution, AWAIR, OSHA, Right to know, SDS, ADA, HUD Policy and Procedures, Fair Housing laws and regulations
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business or related field
    • Prior supervisory/management experience.
    • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
    • Experience with HRIS software, an applicant tracking system, E-Verify
    • Strong conflict resolution skills
    • Experience working in Senior Healthcare
