Middle Mile Transportation is focused on delivering inventory to Target's stores on-time and in the most efficient way possible. Middle Mile owns the strategy and execution of all transportation movement between Target buildings, (store delivery and node to node movement), through partnership with 3rd party carriers. In addition to the transportation movement, Middle Mile is responsible for the safety and execution of all yards within the Target Network.

As a Sr. Analyst of Middle Mile Scheduling and Optimization you will play a central role in supporting these initiatives. This individual will be responsible for forecasting RDC to Store deliveries. Working hand in hand with field, stores, inventory, and S&OP partners to drive consistency and reliability across the Middle Mile network by moving product through our network as efficiently as possible. This highly collaborative, cross-functional role that is responsible for working with upstream patterns to understand freight flow expectations and working with store partners on creating the most efficient unload schedule to move product into the stores. The team currently uses a wide variety of analytics tools including Excel/Access, R, Python, SQL, TM (JDA / Blue Yonder platform), TMW, and Greenfield (similar to Domo) to work with small, sparse datasets as well as big data platforms similar to Hadoop.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE INCLUDE:

Forecasting RDC to Store Deliveries

Transportation point of contact for inventory, S&OP and Store partners

Model and analyze freight flow scenarios and corresponding store unload schedules

Reactive modeling for freight flow variances and present downstream impacts to carriers and stores

Use data and metrics to understand the business, identify areas in need of improvement, support others and measure the impact of our actions

Become subject matter expert on upstream inventory flow expectations and downstream store unload requirements

Creative problem solving and cross functional collaboration for continuous improvement

REQUIREMENTS:

4-year degree in supply chain, operations, economics or related field OR equivalent experience

Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results

Cross-Functional leadership experience

Analytical, Creative and Innovative approach to solving problems

Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to tailor communication to different audiences.

Can make decisions with little to no guidance from manager or other leaders

Strong root-cause analyses track record and the ability to problem solve independently

Scripting experience preferred with at least one of the following or similar: R, Python, SQL, etc.

This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $62,500 to $90,000. This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target. The salary range is :$67,600.00 USD - $121,700.00 USD.
