About Us

Target is an iconic brand, a Fortune 50 company and one of America's leading retailers.

Fueling the continued success of one of the world's most beloved and recognized brands is a distinctly capable, creative and innovative Marketing organization. Target Marketing is well known for inspiring and surprising guests, and we pride ourselves in connecting them to the products and experiences they expect and deserve from Target. We study our guests to discover new needs and insights, and then craft every interaction to build brand love and our business. We are market experts who insist on a clear and cohesive understanding of our business objectives, guest segments and behaviors, strategies and tactics, overcoming obstacles and measuring success. Our commitment to partnering both internally and with external agencies, media and ad tech companies gives us a wide range of capabilities, from award-winning creative work to exciting and performance-based marketing. Leveraging our collective assets and fostering a healthy, supportive and open team culture, we deliver a holistically gratifying experience that guests can only get at Target.

A role within Roundel is an opportunity to be part of a strategic priority business for Target. Roundel is Target's entry into the media business, a sell-side business built on the principles of first party (people based) data, brand safe environments and proof that our marketing programs drive business results for our clients. We operate with the ethos of trust and transparency and that media works best when it works in everyone's best interest. At the very root of that, Roundel is here to drive business growth for our clients, and redefine "value" in the industry by solving core industry challenges vs. copy current industry methods of operation. We are here to drive a key growth initiative for Target and to lead the industry to a better way of operating.

Our Strategy and Enablement team is responsible for shaping Roundel's strategy as well as identifying and executing the growth and enablement initiatives for the business. The team plays an active role in some of Roundel's boldest and most strategic decisions working closely with senior leaders to ensure that the company stays on its fast growth trajectory. We do this by anticipating and effectively responding to challenges and fueling Roundel's growth-today, and into the future-regardless of the challenges ahead. Here, you will work with internal and external partners in a wide variety of roles. You will have the opportunity to develop skills across the media and retail organization, including strategic problem solving, strategy activation, experimentation, and scaling new businesses. You will help to shape Roundel's long-term strategy and champion rigor and process to ensure successful strategic planning. You will bring big ideas to the table to build momentum for growth.

Leading the retail media revolution as champions of bold strategic thinking, the Roundel Strategy team seeks to drive profitable growth by exploring new opportunities (e.g., markets, channels, and segments), driving strategic focus and accountability, and transforming Roundel's business. We accomplish this through our values of building a diverse and inclusive team, connecting across the enterprise to foster strategic choice making, and driving the organization towards strategic growth strategies.

As a Principal Strategist, you will join a highly entrepreneurial team and develop time-horizon growth initiatives for the Roundel business. This will utilize your skills, experience, and talents as a part of a visionary and collegial team that combines traditional strategy consulting and innovative business design thinking. You will work on strategy consulting-like engagements in the business that solve for potential roadblocks to growth and identify new ideas and opportunities for transforming the business. You will be expected to understand retail and media trends, competitors, and guests to develop new concepts and formats that meet future needs in the ever- and fast-evolving, multi-channel media and retail landscape. You'll also oversee and drive the execution of numerous strategy projects to ensure quality of design, problem solving, execution, synthesis, and communication of results. By managing relationships with executive leaders of areas such as Merchandising, Marketing, Store Operations, Strategic Partnerships, you'll drive strategic business decisions. Likewise, in collaboration with Roundel leaders, you'll prioritize the best drivers of future growth.

About You:

7+ years of work experience in corporate strategy leadership roles including assessing business strategies, leading advanced analysis and problem solving, and developing multi-year business strategies or 4+ years of prior experience in dedicated engagement/project leadership experience with a consulting firm.

10+ years of total professional experience with growing levels of responsibility; proven track record of leading transformational change

Prior experience in engagement/project leadership with a top management of innovation consulting firm (McKinsey, Bain, IDEO, Jump, etc.) or in a Fortune 100-level corporate strategy group

Strong conceptual skills, including ability to translate research and observation into actionable opportunities

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, while staying focused on the big picture

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong presence in front of senior executives

Creative problem solver with a bias for action

Relentless but collaborative - ensuring that debates and discussions not only lead to good outcomes for all involved, but also set a positive tone for cross-functional teams
