Description: The pay range is $123,100.00 - $221,600.00

The Director of Video & Visual Design is responsible for setting the strategy for the Enterprise Communications Creative department, which includes leading a team that will be responsible for the creation of original video content distributed both internally and externally across Target's owned channels and at key company meetings, oversight of all graphic design projects as well as managing the creative process for platform redesigns, including corporate website design, newsletter design and digital hub/microsite creation.
  • As Director of Video & Visual Design, you would be responsible for collaborating with the Vice President, Editorial and Platform Directors, Director of Meeting Planning, Content Strategists and creative COEs to create assets consistent with Target's best practices for video and visual ideation, creation, and approval workflow.
  • Manage in-house creative team, including video and graphic designers, as well as agency and freelance resources to effectively drive creative production for key external activations and internal company meetings.
  • Leverage relationships with top production partners/agencies to recommend video, photography and design partners for projects ranging from short- and long-form video to successful animated and illustrated assets, photo shoots and visual redesigns of key digital platforms among others.
  • Lead all aspects of the video production process, including managing agency resources, freelance support and production calendars to ensure successful on-budget and on-time video creation, in partnership with the Content Planner.
  • Oversee video content reviews with key stakeholders, including business, content and executive strategists, among others.
  • Lead team to proactively pitch original video concepts and series ideas that bolster Target's reputation and reach key audiences across a variety of channels.
  • Oversee projects from concept to completion, including location scouting, casting, script-writing, graphics, animation, VO needs, editing and translation, ensuring top quality production value and editing for each project.
  • Oversee creative process for all visual projects including digital platform redesigns, the creation of standalone digital hubs and microsites and style guides.
  • Identify external events and key reputational activations as needed for the company to capture original video footage, interviews, and b-roll.
  • Oversee shoots and liaise with internal and external talent, such as influencers, team members and company executives.
  • Recommend and implement updates and improvements to video technology, animation and graphic trends.


About you:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience as a team leader with a demonstrated track record in creative execution and performance
  • Significant experience building teams and managing people.
  • Strong experience with different styles of video creation-ranging from short social explainer videos to documentary style series-and the ability to work with internal and external teams to create them.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere, Adobe Media Encoder, Adobe After Effects and Final Cut Pro is required with proven knowledge of motion graphics and color-grading
  • Working knowledge of lighting & techniques for both studio and field productions
  • Proven knowledge of digital media and content landscape is required
  • Have working knowledge of social platforms and are able to adapt content style per platform
  • Must demonstrate strong and fluent editorial techniques through proper timing, pacing, organization, and asset management within a given timeline
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with quick deadlines
  • Prior experience in a fast-paced, dynamic, highly creative, and collaborative environment is required
  • Previous experience working independently and overseeing shoots with C-suite and other talent is required
  • Strong business acumen, with deep understanding of how to achieve objectives while meeting brand standards
  • Strong collaboration, negotiation and conflict resolution skills are required
  • Experience working in a highly matrixed environment is preferred.
  • May require domestic or international travel throughout the year

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
