ALL ABOUT THE SR. ETL ROLE

You work side by side with the Store Director to run a profitable growth business that has one purpose: to help all families discover the joy of everyday life. You lead a sales force of experts that are passionate about making sure guests get what they came for (plus a little more) every time they shop at your store. You develop leaders who care about their team members, and team members who care about their guests and each other. The role of a Sr. Executive Team Leader can provide you with the:
  • Knowledge of guest service fundamentals and experience building and managing a guest first culture on your team
  • Knowledge of retail business fundamentals: department sales trends, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing and promotions strategies
  • Experience setting and planning department(s) monthly/quarterly workload to support business priorities and managing a team to deliver on sales goals
  • Knowledge of the competition; leveraging insights to drive business objectives
  • Experience managing a large team of hourly and exempt team members and leaders; creating business specific strategies and goals
  • Skills in recruiting, selecting and talent management of hourly and exempt team members and leaders


As a Sr. Executive Team Leader, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities:
  • Lead and create a service culture that prioritizes the guest experience. Model, train and coach expectations to deliver the service standard.
  • Assist the Store Director in planning, strategizing and building the business
  • Drive total store sales, understand your role in sales growth and how your departments and team contribute to and impact total store profitability
  • Anticipate and identify changes in store-specific trends and drive sales growth in your departments by leaning into key seasons, events and weekends
  • Leverage your reports (financial, operational, team and guest) to understand the business; Share key insights and themes with the Store Director in support of total store strategy and growth
  • Know and assess the competition and leverage guest insights and feedback to drive the business and be the destination of choice for our guests
  • Manage a confident and knowledgeable sales force that delivers a differentiated experience for our guests and prioritizes the guest over task
  • Manage an efficient operation to fund future growth
  • Anticipate staffing needs, talent plan, recruit, hire and retain a passionate team for area specific knowledge and expertise
  • Actively develop, coach and train your team
  • Lead your ETLs to develop and coach their team to elevate the skills and expertise needed to be best for the guest
  • Demonstrate and promote a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
  • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and consistent performance management
  • Support the Store Director in owning and implementing exempt and hourly schedules that align to guest and business needs (including weekends, mornings, evenings, overnight and appropriate seasonal adjustments)
  • Plan, lead and follow-up on organizational and operational change
  • Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs (this includes early morning, evening, overnight shifts and weekends) and complements that of the Store Director
  • Always demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance; Lead and hold the team accountable to work in the same way
  • Lead and create a safety advocacy culture by understanding how safety impacts your role and that of your team, identifying and correcting hazards, and holding team accountable to working in a safe manner to benefit themselves and others.
  • As a key carrier, follow all safe and secure training and processes
  • Address store needs (emergency, regulatory visits, etc.)
  • All other duties based on business needs

The good news is that we have some amazing training that will help teach you everything you need to know to be a Sr. Executive Team Leader. But, there are a few skills you should have from the get-go:
  • Four year degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity
  • Manage conflict, lead and hold others accountable
  • Relate well with and interact with all levels of the organization
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making, financial and quantitative analysis
  • Learn and adapt to current technology needs
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently

  • Interpret instructions, reports and information
  • Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 40 pounds
  • Accurately handle cash register operations
  • Climb up and down ladders
  • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays) and regular attendance necessary
