Rochester, MN North Target Store (T-1351)

The Food & Beverage team works together to provide the guest a fresh, full and food safe shopping experience all day, every day.

As Starbucks (Food Service) Team Leader, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities:
  • Understand sales goals, plan and execute daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement. Including planning Starbucks product & marketing transitions, revisions, sales plans, sampling, promotions and price change workload
  • Model guest service standards; delivering a fantastic Starbucks experience, developing Baristas and Cross-Trained Team Members who share product knowledge with the guest
  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience. Model, train and coach expectations to deliver the service standard
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance; Lead team to work in the same way and hold others accountable to this commitment
  • Lead and create a safety advocacy culture by understanding how safety impacts your role and that of your team, identifying and correcting hazards, and holding team accountable to working in a safe manner to benefit themselves and others
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
  • Develop Baristas to stay up-to-date on relevant trends and products
  • Evaluate and recommend candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team
  • Lead team onboarding and learning and close knowledge and skill gaps through training and experiences
  • Establish clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable to expectations
  • Lead your team to uphold and maintain all Starbucks Brand Standards and production specifications.
  • Complete all Starbucks training requirements and certifications
  • Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs (this includes early morning, evenings, and weekends)
  • As a key carrier, follow all safe and secure training and processes
  • Address full-store needs (emergency, regulatory visits, etc.)
  • Assess back of house, production areas, Starbucks dining space to ensure food safety and proper inventory levels
  • Walk Food & Beverage Standards and Starbucks Service routines daily to assess priorities and review reporting to identify business gaps for follow-up
  • Ensure proper execution on all food safety standards and cleaning routines
  • Foster a productive relationship with your Starbucks District Manager, attend required in-store planning and business meetings and follow-up on key takeaways from their time in your store
  • Ensure accurate in-stocks by placing store-initiated orders according to best practices
  • Follow proper perishable inventory management procedures to ensure an accurate recording of inventory
  • Make production quantity decisions just in time to ensure freshness, in-stocks, sales and profitability are achieved all day, every day
  • Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
  • Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick up (OPU) and Drive-up (DU) and maintain a compliance culture while executing those duties, such as compliance with federal, state, and local adult beverage laws
  • All other duties based on business needs


SKILLS: Here are some of the basic skills we're looking for:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous leadership experience, preferably in a food service setting
  • Strong interest and knowledge of the food service business
  • Ability to effectively lead and hold others accountable
  • Learn and adapt to current technology needs
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
  • Have a welcoming and helpful attitude
  • Effective communication skills
  • Have a desire to have fun at work and build team culture!


We are an awesome place to work and care about our teams, so we want to make sure we are clear on a few more basics that we expect:
  • Team Leaders have access to all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
  • Candidates for this role must be able to interpret instructions, reports and information, accurately handle cash register operations
  • Additionally: ability to climb up and down ladders
  • Also: scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 40 pounds
  • And: Ability to work in spaces where common allergens may be handled or present
  • What about schedules? This is Target! Retail business is busiest during weekends and holidays. Starbucks operates 7 days per week, with shifts starting at 6:00am for openers. Closing time for Starbucks is 8pm, which means our Baristas &/or Team Leads work until about 9pm. Schedules vary, business needs are important and so is your personal life. You will work with your leadership to gain an understanding of specific expectations of this location in terms of scheduling needs and potential changes as the seasons change.
