A regular position is available in the Minnesota House of Representatives as an audiovisual and television engineer with the nonpartisan Public Information Services Office. The office supports the mission of the House of Representatives through news and information services including: reporting on committees and floor sessions, publications, photography and television coverage.

 

Responsibilities include: providing operational training and technical support related to hearing rooms, meeting rooms and House-wide audiovisual-related technologies; maintaining an inventory and asset management records for various technology related systems; serving as a back-up to the television engineering director; serving as House point person for technical issues related to legislative cable television distribution; and providing operational training and technical support related to digital signage.

 

This position requires strong audiovisual and technical skills and organizational abilities, and the ability to promptly and creatively troubleshoot and address technical issues. Proven abilities with Microsoft Office software, and knowledge and familiarity with television-related system designs and design software are needed. An ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years engineering experience in broadcast television and/or audiovisual systems. Familiarity with all phases of audio/visual production required, and experience in a live news environment preferred.

 

Candidates should have good communication and human relations skills, and the ability to develop and maintain respected working relationships with office and other legislative staff. Must be able to regularly lift 35 pounds and physically remove or install television- and audiovisual-related equipment.
