The University of Wisconsin-Stout School of Art & Design seeks an educator for a renewable lecturer position teaching multiple sections of design foundation studios. The number of course sections to vary by term. The range of courses taught includes studio-based digital tools courses (Adobe Creative Suite) as well as visual communication design and portfolio building courses. These courses serve undergraduate students in various design disciplines, including graphic design and interactive media, industrial and product design, interior design, game design and animation.
There are three primary areas of teaching for this position (all courses serve multiple majors):
- Digital tools: introduction to, and focus on, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Communication design: best practices for presentations and client communications.
- Portfolio building and job search best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum / Required
- Have one of the following by date of hire:
- Master's Degree in relevant field.
- Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of experience in relevant field.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite software, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Proficiency in the basics of visual communication design (layout, hierarchy, typography).
- Experience in a design-focused discipline, including but not limited to one of the following:
- Graphic Design
- Web/Interactive Design
- Industrial and Product Design
- Interior Design
- Architecture
- Game Design
- Animation
- Concept Art
- Completed terminal degree (M.F.A., Ph.D., etc.) in related field of study.
- Previous experience in teaching, coaching, or mentoring in related field of study.
- Demonstrated success working with diverse student populations.
- Commitment to cultivating a work environment and student experience that embraces inclusion.
The School of Art & Design has over 85 faculty/staff and over 1,300 students, making it the largest higher education art and design entity in the upper Midwest. The School of Art & Design student population accounts for roughly 20% of the on-campus undergraduate population at UW-Stout. Our school serves MFA in Design , eight undergraduate degrees , and six minors .
