JOB DETAILS:

The University of Wisconsin-Stout is welcoming applications for a Regional Admissions Counselor (Greater Milwaukee Area), which will report to the Assistant Director of Admissions in Menomonie Wisconsin. This position plays a very important role in the recruitment and outreach activities of the Admissions Office in the Milwaukee area. Our goal is to increase the number of applicants to the University and enroll a talented and diverse student body. This staff member will meet with prospective students and their families, high school counselors, various groups on and off campus, alumni, and other contacts to promote the opportunities offered at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Particular attention will be given to targeted populations that add to the diversity of the student body, including academically talented students, underrepresented multicultural students, and non-residents. A significant part of the recruitment process will be establishing and nurturing relationships that can serve as a conduit for students to learn about UW-Stout. This staff member will collaborate with other Admissions Office Staff members to coordinate recruitment activities.

This is an off-campus position, and the incumbent will work from a home office. The incumbent must currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Milwaukee area. Candidate must be able and willing to travel at least 50% time throughout the Milwaukee area and be willing and able to work evenings and weekends as needed. This is a 12-month annual position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum / Required

• Bachelor's degree (degree must be posted by hire date)
• Experience working with students with diverse backgrounds
• Excellent written communication and public speaking skills
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to lift and transport materials up to 35 lbs

Highly Desired

• Experience in admissions or related areas of education, marketing, or community-based organizations
• Knowledge of UW-Stout gained through experience as a student or employee
• Ability to present information to large and small groups
• Strong organizational and event planning skills
• Ability to be adaptable and manage multiple competing priorities
• Ability to use and learn multiple computer technologies (such as Peoplesoft, ImageNow, Microsoft Office, Salesforce)
• Ability to speak fluently in a second language

The Admissions Office is responsible for recruiting and admitting students. The office hosts formal tours for prospective students and oversees the processing of undergraduate and graduate applications and transfer credits.
