Description: The pay range is $53,700.00 - $96,700.00

A role in the Controller's Group calls on your skills for quality financial reporting and accurate financials and technical accounting while providing thoughtful and responsive support, expertise and guidance to business partners. Your role will be critical to ensuring the success of Target's business initiatives and core retail operations.

As an Accountant in Property Accounting you will be an active partner in accounting for and analyzing more than $3 billion in annual capital spend, with a focus on store related spend. You will ensure timely and accurate month-end close responsibilities, including preparation of SAP journal entries and financial statement disclosures, execution of SOX internal controls and analytical review of monthly results. You will create and maintain projects in our SAP sub-ledger and review construction project details to ensure appropriate accounting treatment. You will partner with Financial Planning & Analysis to contribute to the forecast/goal for key financial statement line items and work closely with Construction and Real Estate business teams to support capital project accounting, reporting and analysis. You will work on special projects and ad-hoc analysis as needed. You will develop strong relationships in order to influence partners and provide decision support to teams across the company. You will drive innovation and use analytics to improve processes, will enforce governance policies around capital spend and maintain a strong internal control environment.

About you:
  • Four-year degree in Accounting or Finance; and 2-4 years of related experience
  • Strong accountant with knowledge of GAAP
  • Data analysis and modeling experience with tools like Excel to identify trends
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of initiative
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, organization and analytical skills
  • Strong business partner, able to collaborate with teams across the organization
  • Experience with accounting related to property & equipment desired
  • Knowledge of SAP general ledger and related reporting tools desired
